  • Strong knowledge of golf products and club fitting; able to build and modify golf clubs to the standards required by professional golfers.
  • 3 years of experience in fitting or building golf equipment; experience on a professional tour preferred.
  • A Class A License from the Department of Transportation (DOT) is preferred and must be obtained within the calendar year.
  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to work on the road for extended periods (4–5 weeks at a time) with a valid driver's license and insurance eligibility to drive a company vehicle.

Requirements:

  • Build golf clubs to player specifications and perform club-fitting for qualified players, gathering specifications from Pro Tour Performance Representatives and/or qualified PGA Tour professionals.
  • Discuss equipment needs with qualified golf professionals; adjust and/or service golf equipment and submit a club-build report detailing changes to player specifications; track and order inventory in the Pro Tour trailer.
  • Interact with peers and Pro Tour Performance Representatives professionally; develop a Pro Tour Trailer schedule for the upcoming year with the Pro Tour Manager; determine product choices or equipment characteristics to best support professional golfer customers.
  • May support Pro Tour Performance Representative duties before tournaments; assist in transporting and maintaining the Pro Tour trailer and oversee its appearance and logistics.

Under general supervision, the Performance Tour Technician travels to professional tournaments throughout the year, providing club building and fitting support to Callaway professionals on US-based professional tours (primarily the PGA tour) and Pro Tour Performance Representatives. Incumbent builds and modifies clubs primarily at tournaments in the tour trailer and occasionally at Callaway Golf manufacturing facilities. Incumbents may be required to drive the tour trailer to tournaments nationwide. Incumbents must interact with tour players professionally to review and address equipment needs and promote Callaway brands.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

·       Gather club specifications from Pro Tour Performance Representatives and/or qualified PGA Tour professionals.

·       Build golf clubs to player specifications.

·       Perform club-fitting for qualified players.

·       Discuss equipment needs with qualified golf professionals.

·       Adjust and/or service golf equipment for qualified golf professionals.

·       Submit a club-build report and meticulously record any changes to player specifications.

·       Track and order inventory in the Pro Tour trailer.

  • May be asked to support the needs as a Pro Tour Performance Representative role, focused in a specific area before a tournament occurs. 

·       Interact with peers and Pro Tour Performance Representatives collaboratively and professionally.

·       Develop a Pro Tour Trailer schedule for the upcoming year with Pro Tour Manager

  • Determine product choice or equipment characteristics to best support the needs of professional golfer customers.
  • Perform additional duties as specified by the PGA Tour Manager. 
  • A Class A License from the Department of Transportation (DOT) is preferred; it will be required to be obtained within the calendar year. 

·       Assist in transporting the Pro Tour truck between events based on the event calendar and to Carlsbad headquarters based on maintenance or inspection requirements.

·       Maintain the appearance of the Pro Tour trailer in keeping with the professional image of Callaway Golf

  • Determine/support the best route to drive the Pro Tour Trailer from one tournament to the next

·       Oversee maintenance and planning for Pro Tour Trailer

  • Clean and restock the Pro Tour Trailer

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)

  • Strong knowledge of golf products and club fitting. 
  • Able to build and modify golf clubs to the standards required by professional golfers.
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Highly capable of working as part of a team toward meeting department goals.
  • Resolute employee who can be counted on to fulfill obligations, especially regarding travel requirements.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and high diligence 
  • Proficiency in multitasking 
  • Able to work “on the road” for extended periods (i.e., as much as 4–5 weeks at a time)
  • Willing to learn to drive a Pro Tour Trailer with the required credentials and protocols.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Experience in the golf industry.
  • Strong knowledge of golf product
  • 3 years of experience in fitting or building golf equipment required.
  • Experience on a professional tour preferred.
  • A Class A License from the Department of Transportation (DOT) is preferred but must be obtained within the calendar year. 
  • Required to maintain a valid driver’s license and insurance eligibility to drive a company vehicle.
  • Driver’s record must meet authorized driver criteria for the company.
  • Required to drive a company vehicle.
