Shopify Developer

Engagement Type: Contract, Independent Contractor
Hours: Full time availability, 40 hours per week
Location: Remote, with partial overlap required with PST
Reporting: Reports to the Web Development Manager

About the Role
Rove Concepts is hiring a mid to senior Shopify Developer to build and maintain high performance Shopify Plus experiences. You will ship fast, own technical decisions, and partner closely with design, ops, and marketing to improve conversion, AOV, and site reliability. This role fits someone who can work independently, debug confidently, and build scalable solutions without creating a mess for the next person.

What You Will Do
 • Build, optimize, and maintain Shopify Plus themes using Liquid, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
 • Create custom sections, templates, metafield structures, and reusable content blocks
 • Configure Shopify Plus capabilities including Shopify Functions and Flow automations
 • Integrate and customize third party apps, APIs, and data feeds including logistics, reviews, and inventory systems
 • Improve site performance, page speed, SEO structure, and responsive UX across devices
 • Partner with design, ops, and marketing to deploy campaigns, launches, and A B tests
 • Manage Git based workflows and support QA across staging and production
 • Use AI tools to accelerate delivery including debugging, QA checks, and build automation

What You Need
 • 3 to 6 years of Shopify development experience, Shopify Plus preferred
 • Strong Liquid, JavaScript ES6, HTML, CSS or SCSS, and JSON skills
 • Experience with Shopify APIs including Storefront, Admin, and AJAX
 • Experience setting up Functions and Flow, and comfort with checkout related customization patterns
 • Strong debugging skills and ability to troubleshoot independently
 • Familiarity with conversion focused UX, performance tuning, and cross browser QA
 • Fluent English, written and spoken
 • Strong Git workflow and comfort working in an agile team
 • Comfortable using AI tools such as ChatGPT and Copilot to speed up delivery
 • Partial availability during PST hours
