Why This Role Matters
Reporting to the Sales Operations Manager, the Senior Ad Operations Specialist owns the technical execution, delivery, and optimization of Skift’s direct-sold advertising and sponsorship campaigns.
By partnering closely with Sales, Creative, Product, and Finance, this role transforms media plans into high-performing campaigns. Your work directly impacts campaign delivery, renewals, and advertiser satisfaction.
The Opportunity
We’re looking for a detail-oriented ad operations professional with at least three years of hands-on experience managing digital campaigns.
This role is ideal for someone who combines strong technical ad tech knowledge with proactive problem-solving and cross-functional collaboration.
Some of What You’ll Do
Campaign Execution & Delivery
- Own end-to-end setup, trafficking, QA, launch, and optimization of direct-sold digital campaigns
- Manage targeting, line items, creative uploads, placements, and inventory forecasting
- Conduct thorough pre- and post-launch quality checks
Delivery & Optimization
- Monitor daily pacing and performance against contracted KPIs
- Diagnose and resolve underdelivery, tagging issues, creative errors, and tracking discrepancies
- Implement make-goods and delivery recovery plans as needed
Technical Implementation
- Implement and QA third-party tags, pixels, click trackers, and UTM parameters
- Maintain clean naming conventions and structured reporting hygiene
- Support newsletter sponsorship deployment (HubSpot preferred) and podcast ad operations
- Assist with retargeting campaign setup and coordination
Cross-Functional Alignment
- Partner with Sales pre-sale to validate feasibility, inventory, and pacing
- Confirm delivery data for invoicing with Finance and Sales Ops
- Collaborate with Product/Dev to troubleshoot placements and test new formats
What You’ll Bring
- 3–5 years of hands-on ad operations experience in a publisher, media, or agency environment
- Advanced working knowledge of Google Ad Manager (required)
- Experience with Google Ads and managing direct-sold sponsorship campaigns
- Strong understanding of inventory forecasting, pacing logic, and delivery troubleshooting
- Experience implementing third-party tags and tracking pixels
- Comfort analyzing performance data and explaining discrepancies
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive
- Ability to manage multiple live campaigns simultaneously in a remote setting
