Roles & Responsibilities

  • Bachelor's Degree required in Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in property and casualty insurance industry on commercial products (or 5+ years with a Master's Degree).
  • Supervisory experience required (or equivalent combination of education and/or experience).
  • At least 2 years of experience as a Product Manager or equivalent position.

Requirements:

  • Manages relationship of every aspect of assigned product through interaction with Claims, Underwriting, Sales/Marketing, Customer Service, and outside contracts (agents, regulators and industry groups).
  • Develops action plans and strategic direction for functional areas to ensure successful development of the entire product line, including Commercial Auto, and maintains alignment to drive profitability in assigned states.
  • Recruits, manages and develops various levels of Product Managers and Analysts; provides leadership on countrywide projects across the Product Management team and other functional groups.
  • Serves as the Product representative on cross-functional initiatives and develops talent within the Product Management department.

Job description

Overview:

The primary job function is to manage product premium volume growth and profitability results within assigned states by preparing forecasts and analyses. The Sr. Product Manager will be a leader within the Product Management group for Commercial Auto and assists in formulating a coherent strategy for profitable growth.

Geo-Salary Information:

State specific pay scales for this role are as follows:

$126,294 to $246,043 (CA, NJ, NY, WA, HI, AK, MD, CT, RI, MA)

$114,813 to $223,675 (NV, OR, AZ, CO, WY, TX, ND, MN, MO, IL, WI, FL, GA, MI, OH, VA, PA, DE, VT, NH, ME)

$103,332 to $201,308 (UT, ID, MT, NM, SD, NE, KS, OK, IA, AR, LA, MS, AL, TN, KY, IN, SC, NC, WV)

The expected base salary for this position will vary depending on a number of factors, including relevant experience, skills and location.

Responsibilities:
  • Manages relationship of every aspect of assigned product through interaction with relevant departments such as Claims, Underwriting, Sales/Marketing, Customer Service, and outside contracts (agents, regulators and industry groups).
  • Develops action plans and strategic direction for functional areas and maintains alignment to ensure successful development of the entire product line. 
  • Accountable for product success with one or more assigned states depending on market/regulation characteristics and population size.
  • Product lines include Commercial Auto.
  • Recruits, manages and develops various levels of Product Managers and Analysts. 
  • Leadership on countrywide projects across the Product Management team and other functional groups.
  • Serves as the Product representative on cross functional initiatives. 
  • Develops talent within the Product Management department. 
  • Other functions may be assigned
Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree required in Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, or related field.

Master's degree desired in Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, or related field.


Experience: 

  • 7+ years of experience working with property and casualty insurance industry on commercial products or 5+ years with a Master's Degree
  • Supervisory experience required
  • Or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • At least 2 years of experience as a Product Manager or equivalent position
  • Superior problem-solving, quantitative and analytical skills and proven ability to make data-driven decisions.
  • Possesses demonstrated technical knowledge and skills regarding product and industry, reflective of successful progression through various job family levels within the Commercial Property & Casualty Insurance industry.
  • In-depth technical knowledge of auto industry products and services, philosophy and best practices and the ability to apply such knowledge in a strategic capacity.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to correspond with management, internal and external customers.
  • Requires the regular exercise of independent judgment to make moderately complex decisions beyond the scope of the established Company guidelines and parameters
