Roles & Responsibilities

  • Experience with Paperless Parts is a plus
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or technical degree preferred
  • 2+ years of experience in estimating, office administration, or a related role - preferably in manufacturing, construction, or technical services
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word); experience with ERP or quoting software is a plus

Requirements:

  • Review RFQs, drawings, and specifications to develop accurate and competitive cost estimates; calculate material, labor, tooling, and subcontracting costs; collaborate with production, engineering, and purchasing to validate feasibility and pricing.
  • Prepare formal quotes and proposals; track, update, and maintain historical quoting data and project cost records; monitor market trends in raw materials and labor to maintain up-to-date pricing strategies.
  • Greet walk-in customers, vendors, and visitors; answer calls and respond to inquiries; manage mail distribution, filing, supply ordering, and basic clerical duties.
  • Support sales and production with data entry, document prep, scheduling; assist with maintaining customer and vendor databases; help coordinate meetings, facility tours, and customer visits.

Eagle Metalcraft located in Syracuse, NY is seeking a detail-oriented and versatile individual to join our team as a Technical Estimator/ Customer Service. This dual-role position will play a critical part in ensuring accurate job cost estimation for customer quotes while also providing administrative and customer-facing support in the front office. The ideal candidate will possess both analytical and interpersonal skills, capable of balancing technical estimating tasks with front-line communication and coordination duties..

Responsibilities:

Estimating (50%)

  • Review RFQs (Requests for Quotes), technical drawings, and specifications to develop accurate and competitive cost estimates.
  • Calculate material, labor, tooling, and subcontracting costs for jobs in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and purchasing teams to validate job feasibility and pricing strategies.
  • Prepare formal quote documents and proposals for customers.
  • Track, update, and maintain historical quoting data and project cost records.
  • Monitor market trends in raw materials and labor to maintain up-to-date pricing strategies.

Front Office Support (50%)

  • Greet and assist walk-in customers, vendors, and visitors; maintain a professional and welcoming front office environment.
  • Answer phone calls and respond to general inquiries or route them to the appropriate departments.
  • Handle mail distribution, filing, supply ordering, and basic clerical duties.
  • Support the sales and production teams with administrative tasks such as data entry, document prep, and scheduling.
  • Assist with maintaining customer and vendor databases, including contact details and quote/job status.
  • Help coordinate company meetings, facility tours, and customer visits.

  • Experience with Paperless Parts a Plus
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or technical degree preferred.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word); experience with ERP or quoting software is a plus.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings is a strong advantage.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Working Conditions

  • Full-time position; standard business hours with occasional overtime based on deadlines.
