Roles & Responsibilities

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience with broad impact across multiple engineering domains, including healthcare.

  • Hands-on experience with performance engineering, automation, and security tooling (e.g., JMeter, SonarQube, Veracode, Xray, Qualys), and deep experience with UI technologies, CI/CD, cloud infrastructure, and DevOps strategies.

  • Manage multiple engineering squads and initiatives, including 3rd-party contractors, with a focus on engagement, technical solutions, planning and completing initiatives within a specified timeline.
  • Oversee the entire software engineering lifecycle and lead critical initiatives in partnership with Product aligning with roadmap priorities and identifying opportunities for innovation.
  • Lead integration of AI-powered automation into engineering workflows to improve delivery velocity, reduce manual overhead, and enhance overall product quality.
  • Partner with Product Leaders to translate roadmap objectives into executable engineering plans and ensure delivery of scalable, cloud-native systems.

Micromedex is seeking a Development Director to influence engineering strategy, driving cross-functional initiatives, and ensuring the delivery of scalable, reliable capabilities across the MDX product portfolio. You oversee the entire software development lifecycle, managing multiple engineering teams to incrementally deliver and transform our portfolio across multiple delivery platforms.  You will lead critical initiatives in partnership with Product aligning with roadmap priorities and identifying opportunities for innovation.  You will be responsible for project planning, resource allocation, the creation of viable technical solutions’ and execution plans that align to business goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the entire software engineering lifecycle and lead critical initiatives in partnership with Product aligning with roadmap priorities and identifying opportunities for innovation.  

  • Lead integration of AI-powered automation into engineering workflows to improve delivery velocity, reduce manual overhead, and enhance overall product quality.

  • Responsible for engineering delivery, project planning, resource allocation, the creation of viable technical solutions and execution plans that align to business goals. 

  • Partner with Product Leaders to translate roadmap objectives into executable engineering plans.

  • Provide expert problem-solving support on issues impacting clients, production, system reliability, performance, or platform integrity.

  • Solve problems, debug, troubleshoot, design and implement solutions to complex technical issues,  

  • In partnership with leadership, transform organization and coach and develop people and teams. Provide feedback, encouragement, recognition, encouraging career growth, and offering opportunities. 

  • Enable incremental delivery and bring value to market incrementally.  

  • Shape long-term modernization strategy in partnership with Micromedex leaders.

  • Identify and evaluate emerging technologies to enhance MDX reliability, performance, publishing workflows, and AI-powered capabilities.

  • Drive adoption of modern engineering standards including observability, reliability engineering, secure-by-design, performance tuning, and cloud-native practices.

  • Champion incremental delivery and continuous improvement across the engineering lifecycle.

  • Mentor senior engineers, technical leads, and architects to elevate engineering capability and architectural thinking.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, Engineering, or similar experience in the industry

  • 8+ years of experience with broad impact across multiple engineering domains including healthcare.

  • Proven expertise designing and delivering mission-critical, cloud-native systems at scale.

  • Deep experience with UI technologies, CI/CD, Cloud infrastructure and Solutioning, Security and DevOps strategies.

  • Demonstrated ability to influence technical direction across multiple engineering teams without formal authority.

  • Strong architectural understanding of cloud platforms (Azure preferred), microservices, distributed systems, and container orchestration.

  • Hands-on experience with performance engineering, automation, and security tooling (e.g., JMeter, SonarQube, Veracode, Xray, Qualys).

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts across technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Strong prioritization and problem-solving skills with demonstrated ability to resolve complex cross-functional issues.

  • Proven transformational experience for engineering organizations.

Work Environment

Remote-first role collaborating across global engineering, product, architecture, data science, CMS, UX, security, and operations teams, with occasional travel for alignment sessions and planning meetings.

Compensation


The salary range provided in this job posting is intended to reflect the general market value for the position. The actual salary offered may vary based on factors such as the candidate’s experience, qualifications, skills, and the specific requirements of the role. This range may also be subject to change as market conditions evolve. We encourage open communication throughout the interview process to discuss compensation expectations. For base-salary + commission sales roles, the range represents On-Target Earnings.

Min – Max :

$204,857.94 - $307,286.90 (USD)
