  • Partner with Commercial Banking Relationship Managers to prioritize prospects, develop strategy, create proposals, and manage onboarding for new customer acquisitions.
  • Develop prospects from referrals and other sources; screen and interview prospective clients to assess financial needs and evaluate credit and deposit opportunities using a consultative selling approach.
  • Maintain market knowledge of treasury, deposit, and credit products for target CI markets; provide high-quality service, communicate proposals, keep management informed of activities, and participate in community organizations to build referrals and CRA alignment.

Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced C&I Business Development Officer (BDO) to join our team. The BDO will be responsible for generating new, profitable economic relationships for River City Bank, focusing on the commercial middle market, including owner-occupied real estate loans. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of identifying and acquiring new banking relationships, including loans, deposits, and cash management services. The target market for this role includes deposit and credit relationships in the $3-$50 million range.


Essential Functions:

  • Meet and/or exceed loan and deposit production goals as assigned by the Bank.
  • Develop, validate, and refer qualified potential new customers to the Bank’s Commercial Banking, and/or Clean Energy Groups.
  • Partner with Commercial Banking Relationship Managers to prioritize prospects, develop strategy, create proposals, and manage new customer acquisitions, including the onboarding process.
  • Establish expertise and market knowledge in the Bank’s treasury, deposit and credit products and services for the Bank’s target C&I markets. Understand the differing banking needs and industry economics of the target markets.
  • Develop prospects from referral leads and other sources.
  • Screen and interview prospective new clients to determine financial needs; gather financial and other information from the prospective client to evaluate for credit and deposit opportunities using a consultative selling approach.
  • Develop and effectively/professionally communicate sales proposals to target customers.
  • Provide consistent, high-quality, professional service to potential customers.
  • Refer customers requiring specialized products and services to the appropriate areas of the Bank.
  • Keep management regularly informed of activities, including reporting weekly on new business account activity.
  • Actively participate and represent the Bank in community organizations and activities to enhance the Bank’s image, while maintaining and enhancing a referral network for business development opportunities.
  • Support the Bank’s compliance with the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) through business development efforts and provision of service hours.
  • Maintain a current knowledge of bank regulations. Ensure compliance with all Federal, State and Bank policies, procedures, and regulations.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree (BA or BS) with coursework in marketing, business, economics, or finance from an accredited college, or equivalent related work experience, preferred.
  • Ten years proven and progressive related sales, marketing, and relationship management experience.
  • Knowledge of commercial lending practices and lending approval processes preferred.
  • Experience direct sourcing and prospecting new clients within the Bank’s target market.
  • Commercial middle market account relationship management experience preferred.
  • Established network of centers of influence for the Bank’s target market.
  • Proven track record in growing a business or portfolio of clients.
  • Experience developing partnerships and collaborating with other functional areas within the company.
  • Experience negotiating interest rates, fees, terms, and collateral requirements on commercial deposits and loans.

Salary Description
$150,000 per year plus quarterly incentive
