What makes this role exciting

We are seeking a senior Solution Architect to act as our technical expert, responsible for designing and overseeing the implementation of scalable, secure solutions on Amazon Web Services (AWS). This is a vital leadership role where you will translate complex business needs into technical reality.
You will take strategic ownership of our group-wide API architecture, defining the roadmap and establishing clear standards for API design, security, and governance (e.g., REST, OpenAPI). You will work closely with our platform engineering, development, and security teams to drive architectural excellence.

Main responsibilities

• Lead the architectural design of business-critical solutions on AWS, ensuring they meet rigorous requirements for scalability, security, and performance.

• Define, own, and evangelise the group-wide API strategy and governance framework.

• Provide expert technical leadership and guidance to development and operations teams.

• Champion and enforce AWS best practices and proactively optimise infrastructure for cost-effectiveness.

• Integrate "Secure by Design" principles and ensure all solutions meet regulatory compliance (e.g., GDPR, SOC 2).

• Evaluate emerging technologies and lead proof-of-concept projects to validate new architectural approaches.

Experience needed for this role

• Proven, hands-on experience designing and delivering complex, large-scale, and secure solutions on the AWS platform.

• Strong experience in API architecture design, standards (REST, OpenAPI, GraphQL), and gateway technologies.

• Deep expertise across core AWS services (e.g., Kubernetes (EKS), Lambda, VPC, IAM, RDS, and security services).

• Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation) and a solid understanding of modern CI/CD practices.

• Excellent command of cloud security principles.

• Outstanding communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.

• Highly beneficial: Professional-level AWS certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional).
