Roles & Responsibilities

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent from an accredited university
  • 3+ years of experience in the nuclear power industry
  • License renewal experience in the nuclear industry
  • Strong knowledge of regulations, regulatory processes, and licensing of nuclear plants, including aging management programs and regulatory documentation

Requirements:

  • Provide regulatory expertise to develop and review documents for submittal to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), other regulatory agencies, or clients, ensuring accuracy and completeness
  • Perform independent research, reviews, and analysis to support regulatory/technical projects; monitor regulatory trends and maintain knowledge of requirements and industry standards
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients' licensing staff, identify opportunities for licensing support, and develop licensing business opportunities for operating plants, new reactors, and other facilities
  • Provide input to project schedules regarding duration and scope of regulatory issues; support licensing studies, conceptual designs, and plant modification packages impacting licensing basis and 50.59/safety evaluations

Job description

Overview:

Ensure safety and compliance in the nuclear sector by developing and reviewing regulatory documents. You'll create and review submissions, conduct research, stay updated on industry trends, and monitor regulatory changes. Building and maintaining client relationships is key, as is providing input on project timelines and regulatory issues. You'll identify new licensing opportunities, review design modifications, and conduct safety evaluations. This position can be Full Time, Part Time, or LTLB. This role can be based in one of the following locations:

 

  • Kennesaw, GA (Suburb of Atlanta) 
  • Chattanooga, TN
  • Potentially remote for a SME in License Renewal
Responsibilities:

Imagine a day where you provide crucial regulatory expertise for your team. You'll dive into independent research, stay ahead of regulatory trends, and build strong client relationships, all while supporting impactful nuclear projects and identifying new business opportunities. Other duties can include:

 

  • Regulatory Expertise & Document Management: Provide regulatory expertise to develop and review documents for submittal and/or presentation to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), other regulatory agencies, or clients, ensuring accuracy and completeness of these documents. Review, edit, and organize documents in the preparation for a large and complex nuclear license application, as well as smaller technical submittals, topical reports, and white papers
  • Research & Analysis: Perform independent research, reviews, studies, and analysis to support regulatory/technical projects and programs. Monitor changing regulatory trends and maintain knowledge of regulatory requirements, guidelines, practices, and industry standards of the nuclear industry
  • Client Relations & Business Development: Build and maintain relationships with clients' licensing staff, ensuring client satisfaction and identifying proactive opportunities for support. Identify and develop licensing business opportunities for operating nuclear plants, new reactors, and other commercial nuclear facilities
  • Project & Program Management: Provide input to project/program work schedule regarding duration/scope of regulatory issues and the time/scope/effort involved in resolving them in order to implement project. Support/review studies, conceptual designs, and plant modification packages for impact on licensing basis and 50.59 screening/safety evaluations  #LI-MB1
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent/relevant from an accredited university OR significant training and experience may be considered
  • 3+ years of experience in the nuclear power industry
  • Must have license renewal experience in the nuclear industry
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of regulations, regulatory agencies, and the regulatory processes supporting design and licensing of nuclear plants including the documentation that supports these processes
  • Must possess knowledge and understanding of nuclear power plant design, and operations
  • Preparation of aging management program documents supporting license renewal implementation
  • Site coordination of implementation of license renewal commitments and aging management programs
  • Preparation of Integrated Plant Assessments, including the development of scoping, screening and aging management reviews of systems, structures, and components
  • Evaluation and update of time-limited aging analyses (TLAAs) relative to the extended operating period
  • Preparation of License Renewal Applications (LRA) including FSAR update and support of the Environmental Report (Part 51) supplement
  • Ability to represent ENERCON and/or clients at NRC, United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and other regulatory agencies meetings and workshops
  • Must have strong organizational and excellent written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated competencies in technical writing, facilitation, and decision-making
  • Ability to work in time constraining regulatory environment while maintaining a quality product
  • Must be able to work productively with other staff, at all levels, in a team environment
  • Provide direct project support as an individual contributor or team leader
  • Technical proficiency in understanding general engineering, design, and the nuclear industry
Pay Range: USD $90,000.00 - USD $177,450.00 /Yr. Additional Information:

When salary range is listed it reflects typical compensation for this role based on level and location. Actual pay depends on experience, skills, and education.
