About the role: 

As a small, agile company, we thrive on collaboration, innovation, and accountability. We’re now looking for a Solution Architect to help shape and scale our technology landscape as we enter our next phase of growth.  

 

As a Solution Architect, you will play a pivotal role in designing and delivering robust, scalable, and secure payment solutions. You’ll work closely with both internal teams and external clients, translating business needs into end-to-end technical designs that balance innovation, practicality, and regulatory compliance. 

 

We are looking for a candidate that can combine deep technical expertise with strong client-facing skills — ideal for someone who enjoys collaborating with customers to understand their requirements, designing solutions that meet their goals, and guiding them through technical delivery. You will need to have a minimum of 8 years of experience, ideally split across software engineering and architecture, to be considered for this role.  

 

Key Responsibilities: 

• Design scalable, secure, and compliant payment solutions across card processing, payments, and open banking. 

• Engage directly with external clients to understand their business and technical needs, translate them into feasible architectures, and present solution proposals. 

• Collaborate with product, engineering, and compliance teams to ensure alignment between business goals and technical solutions. 

• Participate in client solution workshops, technical discovery sessions, and architecture reviews. 

• Evaluate and solution for third-party APIs and payment gateways, ensuring interoperability, resilience, and compliance. 

• Develop and maintain architecture documentation, diagrams, and standards (e.g., APIs, microservices, cloud infrastructure). 

• Provide technical leadership throughout the delivery lifecycle, ensuring solutions are implemented according to architectural principles and industry best practices. 

• Ensure compliance with PSD2, FCA regulations, PCI-DSS, and other relevant standards. 

• Support pre-sales activities, including responding to RFPs and providing technical input on client proposals. 

 

You should apply if you have: 

• Proven experience as a Solution Architect or Software Architect, ideally in a fintech or payments environment. 

• Experience working directly with external clients or partners in a technical or pre-sales capacity. 

• Strong understanding of payments infrastructure — including card acquiring, open banking, faster payments, settlement, and reconciliation. 

• Hands-on experience with cloud-native and cloud agnostic architectures (AWS, Azure, or GCP). 

• Expertise in API design, microservices, and event-driven systems. 

• Familiarity with security and compliance requirements in financial services (e.g., encryption, PCI-DSS). 

• Strong communication and presentation skills — able to articulate complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences. 

• Experience working within agile, DevOps, or product-driven environments. 

 

Desirable additional requirements: 

• Previous experience in a start-up or scale-up fintech. 

• Exposure to ISO 20022, Open Banking APIs, or card scheme integrations. 

• Experience with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, CloudFormation). 

• Background in software engineering (e.g., Java, Golang, Kotlin, Node.js, Python). 

• Experience supporting sales or business development teams with technical input.
