Roles & Responsibilities

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering (or ability to obtain within 12 months)
  • Engineer Intern registration in Indiana (or ability to obtain within 12 months)
  • Entry-level civil/bridge design experience
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, structural design software, and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Project); familiarity with the Indiana Design Manual and INDOT specifications

Requirements:

  • Prepare components of design calculations, quantity calculations, cost estimates, and plans with oversight
  • Work and coordinate with other internal departments; assist in assembling Supplements, Proposals, and Engineer’s Reports
  • Meet deadlines and alert Project Team Leaders immediately upon realization of a problem on a project
  • Maintain the confidentiality of client and company information; perform other duties as assigned

Title:   DESIGN ENGINEER 

Department: Bridge

Reports To: Project Team Leader or Project Manager

Education: Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering, or ability to obtain within 12 months

Registration: Engineer Intern in the State of Indiana, or ability to obtain within 12 months

Experience: Entry level position


Duties:

Prepare various components of design calculations with oversight

Prepare various components of quantity calculations with oversight

Prepare various components of cost estimates with oversight

Prepare various components of plans with oversight

Work and coordinate with other internal departments

Assist in assembling Supplements, Proposals, and Engineer’s Reports

Meet deadlines

Alert Project Team Leaders immediately upon realization of a problem on a project

Maintain the confidentiality of information regarding our clients and company practices.

Perform other duties as assigned.


Skills:

Able to work independently with instruction

Possess strong communication skills

Strong interpersonal skills required to work in a “team” concept

Able to work on multiple projects at once

Working knowledge of the Indiana Design Manual, the INDOT Specifications Book and the INDOT Standard Drawings

Proficient with a computer and Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Project, ACAD software and structural design software

 


Requirements

Physical Requirements:

Able to work seated 9 or more hours per work day

Able to work 40 or more hours per work week as needed

Able to work outdoors traversing uneven or difficult terrain

Able to travel throughout Indiana including overnight stays


Other Requirements:

Possess a valid Indiana driver’s license.
