Responsibilities

  • Develop comprehensive project plans outlining scope, timeline, resources, risks, and deliverables for healthcare software projects; coordinate cross-functional teams; implement agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban).
  • Lead daily stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives, and other agile ceremonies; mentor team members and foster a collaborative, iterative improvement culture.
  • Act as primary liaison between technical teams, healthcare researchers, and executive leadership; communicate project progress, risks, and issues and coordinate regulatory/compliance considerations.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks; ensure all deliverables meet quality standards and HIPAA/regulatory requirements; manage SDLC changes and timeline adjustments.

Job description

Part time Project Manager

20 hours per week (can be flexible on schedule)

Day 3x7.5-Hour (08:00 - 03:00)

Contract Length: 4/1-7/31

100% REMOTE (PST zone normal business hours)

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Project Manager with a strong background in software development within the healthcare space. This role will focus on managing projects involving software engineering, data engineering, and data analysis teams to deliver innovative solutions for healthcare research and patient data management. The ideal candidate is familiar with the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), agile methodologies, and possesses a proven track record in creating and executing detailed project plans that align with business goals and regulatory requirements in the healthcare sector.

 

Key Responsibilities

• Project Planning & Execution:

o Develop comprehensive project plans outlining scope, timeline, resources, risks, and deliverables for healthcare software projects.

o Coordinate cross-functional teams including software engineers, data engineers, and data analysts.

o Implement agile methodologies (e.g., Scrum, Kanban) to facilitate iterative progress and rapid delivery.

• Team Leadership & Collaboration:

o Lead daily stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives, and other agile ceremonies.

o Mentor and guide team members to ensure adherence to best practices and project objectives.

o Foster a collaborative environment that encourages innovation and continuous improvement.

• Stakeholder Management:

o Act as the primary point of contact between technical teams, healthcare research professionals, and executive leadership.

o Communicate project progress, risks, and issues to stakeholders and recommend proactive solutions.

o Liaise with regulatory, compliance, and quality assurance teams to ensure that patient data and healthcare research protocols meet industry standards.

• Risk & Quality Management:

o Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks throughout the project lifecycle.

o Ensure all deliverables meet quality standards and comply with healthcare regulations such as HIPAA.

o Utilize SDLC best practices to manage project changes, scope adjustments, and timeline modifications.

• Reporting & Documentation:

o Maintain comprehensive project documentation including project charters, status reports, and retrospective analyses.

o Provide regular updates and actionable insights to senior management.

o Ensure transparency and accountability through detailed project tracking and documentation.



Requirements

Qualifications

Education & Certification:

o Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Healthcare Informatics, Business Management, or a related field.

o Project Management Professional (PMP) certification and/or Agile certifications (e.g., Certified ScrumMaster) preferred.

 

Experience:

o Proven experience managing projects through the full SDLC, particularly in the healthcare software space.

o Demonstrated expertise in agile methodologies and leading cross-functional teams.

o Hands-on experience working with software engineers, data engineers, and data analysts.

o Background in healthcare research, managing patient data, or developing healthcare software solutions.

 

Technical & Regulatory Knowledge:

o Strong understanding of software development processes and agile frameworks.

o Familiarity with healthcare regulations (e.g., HIPAA) and best practices for handling patient data.

o Experience with project management tools (e.g., Jira, Trello, MS Project) and collaboration platforms.

 

Soft Skills:

o Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

o Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.

o Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.

o Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a diverse team.
