  • Proven commercial and market development experience within the medical device industry, ideally in orthopedics and/or spine
  • Strong distributor management capability with a customer-focused, solution-oriented mindset; ability to train and develop distributors and sub-distributors
  • Hands-on, proactive, and detail-oriented with the ability to operate independently across multiple LATAM markets and travel frequently
  • Fluent in English and Spanish (written and spoken); Portuguese is advantageous; minimum 3+ years' experience in medical devices or capital equipment (orthopedics/spine experience beneficial)

International Business Development Manager – Latin America

Orthopedics & Spine | Medical Devices

medtechrec is partnered with a global medical device organisation to appoint an International Business Development Manager to drive commercial growth across Latin America, with a clear focus on orthopedic and spine technologies.

This role sits at the centre of the companys regional expansion strategy, responsible for developing distributor capability, strengthening market presence, and supporting the successful launch and adoption of new orthopedic and spine products across multiple LATAM markets.

The position offers a high degree of autonomy within clearly defined commercial objectives, including revenue growth, margin performance, and regulatory and compliance standards. The successful candidate will be trusted to shape their market strategy, distributor engagement model, and customer support approach, provided results are delivered.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive sales growth across assigned Latin American territories through a combination of direct commercial activity and distributor enablement

  • Develop, train, and support distributors and sub-distributors to build sustainable orthopedic and spine businesses

  • Deliver product, technical, and clinical training to distributor teams and key customers

  • Support partners in planning and executing academic, training, and promotional activities

  • Lead market development initiatives for new product launches and priority orthopedic and spine segments

  • Build and expand relationships with surgeons, hospitals, and channel partners, identifying new commercial opportunities

  • Contribute to regional brand-building, academic planning, and product promotion strategies

  • Manage pre-sales, in-sales, and post-sales support to ensure a high-quality customer experience and long-term partnerships

  • Collaborate with internal teams to support training and promotional initiatives across wider Latin American markets, as required

Candidate Profile

  • Proven commercial and market development experience within the medical device industry, ideally in orthopedics and/or spine

  • Strong distributor management capability with a customer-focused, solution-oriented mindset

  • Hands-on, proactive, and detail-oriented, with the ability to operate independently across multiple markets

  • Comfortable with frequent domestic and international travel across Latin America

  • Fluent in English and Spanish (written and spoken); Portuguese is advantageous

  • Minimum 3+ years experience in medical devices or capital equipment; experience in orthopedics, spine, ENT, urology/gynecology, or imaging equipment is beneficial
