Roles & Responsibilities

  • High School Diploma or equivalent with Electrical Tech program completion.
  • Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, electricity and electronics; ability to read schematics and diagrams.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel and Word) and strong PC skills; on-the-job training provided for company products and equipment.
  • Willingness to travel within the USA and Canada; physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in demanding industrial environments; valid driver's license.

Requirements:

  • Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of Minteq equipment (Minscan, Wire, Laser, Gunning, Shotcrete, Tundish, etc.) and related components.
  • Read schematics and diagrams; perform pneumatic, hydraulic, electronic, and electrical repairs; keep equipment clean and operational; create service reports.
  • Commission new equipment, operate independently, and manage field work across steel mills and Minteq shops; provide timely reports and data; communicate with management.
  • Support customer satisfaction and participate in trials, provide feedback, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives (5S, Kaizen, TPM, Standard Work).

Position- Equipment Reliability Technician

Location- Remote US and some Canada (must be willing to travel)

 

Summary

This is a technical position within Minteq’s Application Technology Team.  This Team includes engineers, technicians and programmers who support all Minteq equipment and keep it in a reliable state. The technician should be a self-starting employee who functions at a high level of capacity in several key areas, including having expertise in maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing all Minteq equipment related to Wire, Laser and Refractory business.  Plus being available on call and handling certain administrative and record keeping functions.  

 

This is a field position so it will be a mix of work from home and travel to various Steel Mills and Minteq shops to work on equipment. 

Responsibilities:

       

Be proficient in all aspects of equipment operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting

Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of all equipment, including but not limited to the Minteq  Minscan, Wire, Laser, Gunning, Shotcrete and Tundish equipment

(standard dry guns, wire feeders, mixer, pumps, motors etc.).

Perform pneumatic, hydraulic, electronic and electrical repairs to equipment.

Read schematics and diagrams.

Perform Preventative Maintenance on Minteq equipment

Keep equipment clean and in working order

Create service reports.

Commission new equipment

 

Operate independently

Supervise self during work week.  This is a field position so it will be a mix of work from home and travel to various Steel Mills and Minteq shops to work on equipment.

Communicate with Management regarding performance or policy compliance issues

 

Assist in administrative/record keeping functions

Submit all reports and data in a timely manner.

 

Maintain a strong focus on satisfying the customer

Maintain a professional, high profile with the customer.

Assist in new trials, provide feedback to other managers.

Assist in the testing of new products and provide feedback

 

OE/Lean

Actively participates in the implementation of sustainable improvement processes, such as 5S, Kaizen, Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), Daily Management Control, Standard Work and Problem Solving.

Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent and Electrical Tech Program completion.

 

Knowledge: Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, electricity and electronics, personal computer.  Knowledge of Company products, applications and equipment (on the job training will be provided).  Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, mainly Excel and Word. 

 

Skills & Abilities: Outstanding technical, mechanical, plus leadership/influence, performance management basics, communication, interpersonal, adaptability, ability to learn quickly and work independently, initiative, integrity, customer and quality focus, analysis and judgment/problem-solving, safety awareness and planning and organizing.  


Physical & Mental:
Ability to lift to 50 pounds (or more in certain shops).  Must be able to withstand the physical pressures of constant standing, walking, bending, climbing, kneeling, crouching, reaching, sitting, lifting, pushing and pulling and carrying, heavy objects.  Additionally, will work in extremes of hot and cold, as well as being in a dusty, dirty industrial environment.  Must be able to gather data, draw conclusions and handle a high level of stress.
 
General: May require emergency call outs, and overtime.  Must wear all required safety gear.  Travel within the USA and at times Canada. Must have a valid Driver's License.
