Opportunity:

VSO is seeking an AWS Cloud Engineer to design, operate, and continuously improve cloud environments that support critical business and mission workloads. In this role, you will be responsible for building scalable and resilient solutions on Amazon Web Services, with a strong emphasis on automation, operational efficiency, and security. You will work hands-on with a wide range of AWS services across compute, storage, networking, and databases, while defining infrastructure using code-driven approaches rather than manual configuration. The position requires experience implementing automated workflows, batch processing, and modern deployment pipelines that enable rapid and reliable application delivery. You will also be responsible for establishing monitoring, logging, and audit capabilities to ensure system visibility and compliance, as well as applying cloud security best practices to protect data and workloads. Candidates with AWS professional certifications or comparable experience are preferred. 

• 10+ years of relevant, professional experience with cloud engineering 
• Hands-on experience building observability solutions, including metrics, logs, and auditing within AWS environments  
• A track record of automating cloud operations and batch processing workflows  
• Expertise in defining and managing infrastructure through code-based approaches  
• Strong understanding of securing cloud platforms and applying industry-recognized security controls  
• Experience integrating build, test, and deployment pipelines into cloud architectures  
• Working knowledge of AWS compute, storage, networking, and database services 
• AWS credentials or equivalent professional certification preferred
• Must possess an active Secret clearance or above
