Roles & Responsibilities

  • 4-6 years of experience in Solutions Engineering, Sales Engineering, Technical Pre-Sales, or Consulting for Enterprise SaaS, ideally with API/data deal closure in SaaS/fintech/data companies.
  • Strong technical sales acumen with the ability to engage CTOs, Product Managers, and engineers, and explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Deep API and data delivery expertise with understanding of RESTful and WebSocket architectures and familiarity with the crypto/blockchain landscape.
  • Proficiency with data delivery protocols and formats (HTTP/HTTPS, WebSockets, SFTP, Webhooks; JSON, CSV, XML) plus experience with Python/JavaScript/Postman, SQL, data visualization tools, and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).

Requirements:

  • Serve as the primary technical resource for the sales team, lead technical scoping/discovery, and design tailored API solutions.
  • Create and deliver trials, demonstrations, and technical presentations that show how CoinGecko’s API meets client needs.
  • Provide expert support throughout the sales cycle, including proposals, RFPs, security assessments, and coordination with Sales.
  • Support post-sales success via onboarding, API adoption, solution reviews, and identifying upsell/renewal opportunities with Client Success.

The Solutions Engineer is a key member of the API Enterprise team, responsible for supporting pre-sales technical discussions, solution design, and post-sales client success and renewal. You’ll collaborate closely with Sales, Product, Engineering, and Client Success teams to ensure clients derive maximum value from our API and related data products.

What You Will Be Doing
  • Technical Sales & Solutioning (Pre-Sales): Act as the primary technical resource for the sales team, guiding prospects through the technical aspects of the API product. Lead the technical scoping and discovery process to deeply understand client architecture, integration requirements, and business objectives. Partner with Sales to understand client business goals, technical environments, and data needs. 
  • Trials & Demonstration: Design, develop, and deliver compelling technical presentations, customized product demonstrations, and client trials that clearly illustrate how CoinGecko's API solves the client's specific technical and business challenges. Conduct technical discovery sessions and API walkthroughs with potential clients.
  • Technical Scoping & Proposal: Develop detailed, tailored API solution proposals, including technical specifications, integration plans, and resource estimates, ensuring alignment with client goals, technical needs, and budget. Design tailored data delivery and integration solutions aligned with product capabilities.
  • Sales Cycle Support: Provide expert technical support throughout the full sales cycle, from initial qualification to negotiation and closing of complex, high-value API deals. Support RFP responses, co-create solution proposals, and security assessments.
  • Post-Sales Success & Expansion: Support Client Success Managers with onboarding, integration, and API adoption. Conduct regular solution reviews and optimisation sessions to identify upsell or renewal opportunities. Ensure successful renewals by demonstrating measurable ROI and operational stability.
  • Technical Expertise & Advisory: Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for CoinGecko’s API suite, WebSocket, and data delivery platform. Provide consultative guidance to clients on best practices for API usage and scalability.
  • Troubleshooting & Technical Support: Troubleshoot and resolve client technical issues with internal engineering support.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with the Product and Engineering teams to ensure proposed solutions are technically feasible, smoothly implemented, and meet high client satisfaction standards. Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to share client feedback and influence product roadmap.
  • Market Intelligence & Process: Stay informed on market trends, competitor technical capabilities, and new API use cases within the crypto/blockchain landscape. Adhere to technical pre-sales processes and maintain accurate records of all technical activities and scoping details in the CRM. Contribute to the development of technical sales playbooks and process optimization.
  • You are required to support any ad hoc tasks as required by the company.

  • What We Look For In You
  • Proven Track Record: You have 4-6 years of experience in a Solutions Engineering, Sales Engineering, Technical Pre-Sales, or Consulting role for Enterprise SaaS products, consistently supporting the closure of high-value deals, ideally in SaaS, fintech, or data companies. Experience working with Enterprise or B2B clients on API or data-driven solutions.
  • Technical Acumen: You possess strong technical sales expertise and are comfortable engaging in deep technical discussions with CTOs, Product Managers, and engineers. You are comfortable explaining technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • API and Domain Knowledge: You have a strong understanding of API products and common customer use cases for APIs. You possess a strong understanding of CoinGecko's API product and the crypto/blockchain landscape. Deep understanding of API design and integration patterns, including RESTful and WebSocket-based architectures.
  • Data Delivery Expertise: Strong knowledge of data delivery protocols such as HTTP/HTTPS, WebSockets, SFTP, and Webhooks, with the ability to evaluate their trade-offs in terms of latency, throughput, reliability, and security. Understanding of data serialization formats (JSON, CSV, XML, Parquet) and compression techniques for efficient delivery.
  • Tools Proficiency: Familiarity with Python, JavaScript, or Postman for testing API endpoints. Knowledge of SQL, data visualisation tools (e.g. Redash, Tableau, PowerBI) and cloud solutions like AWS, GCP, Azure.
  • Strategy & GTM Skills: You have strong market research and competitor analysis skills, with the ability to translate technical insights into actionable strategies to refine the sales approach. Proven ability to influence commercial outcomes through technical expertise.
  • Communication & Presentation: You can build strong relationships with clients and internal technical teams through clear and compelling verbal and written communication. Strong presentation, communication, and engagement skills with executive and technical teams.
  • Project Management: You have strong project management skills for managing multiple projects and technical initiatives simultaneously, with high attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Leadership & Mindset: You demonstrate leadership potential by mentoring others. You are self-motivated, resourceful, have an entrepreneurial mindset, and possess a passion for continuous technical learning.
  • Web3 Interest: You have a keen interest in blockchain, cryptocurrency, NFT, web3, and metaverse topics.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field is preferred (a related field like marketing or business is a plus).
