Job Description

The IT and Solution Architect designs and documents enterprise and solution architectures, focusing on design, analysis, and specification phases. The role produces clear, structured, and reusable architecture deliverables for initiatives at pre-implementation or feasibility stages, including formal documentation for EU institutions or standards-driven projects.

Tasks & Responsibilities

• Design end-to-end system architectures (logical, functional, physical).

• Produce structured architecture documentation, diagrams, and technical specifications.

• Lead architectural decision-making, including evaluation of alternatives and trade-offs.

• Communicate complex concepts clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Ensure alignment with regulatory, compliance, and governance standards.

• Support downstream teams with clear and reusable documentation for development, procurement, or policy initiatives.

Specific Expertise

• Enterprise and solution architecture design.

• Architecture studies, blueprints, and feasibility analyses.

• Security, compliance, and integration considerations.

• Modelling with ArchiMate, UML, or C4.

• Architecture and diagramming tools (Archi, Enterprise Architect, Visio).

• Structured documentation tools (Word, Confluence, SharePoint).

• Proven experience delivering formal EU institution-style documents.

• Clear communication to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Rate: 380-400€/day.
