Lead, Storage Backup & Archiving Administration

Purpose of the job

Maintain, support, document and plan installations/migrations for Backup, storage and SAN systems.

Duties and responsibilities

• Administer Oranges storage and SAN systems including performance monitoring, systems installation and onboarding
• Escalate technical problems to vendor support and follow up until they are resolved
• Document all technical actions and provide reports to technical team leaders and management
• Co-operate with project managers and consultants to achieve project goals
• Coach junior team members by on-the-job and formal training
• Leads implementations of new storage systems
• Carry out storage migrations as per plans laid out by the Architecture and Planning teams Manages the daily activities of all enterprise storage systems
• Initiate internal projects in coordination with Architecture and Planning teams
• Supervise the backup procedures and ensures backups are executed and tested as per schedules

Job specification

Education

• Bachelor degree in computer science, computer engineering or related field.

Experience

• 0 years experience in a similar field
• understanding of a networking infrastructure
• understanding of high availability concepts
• understanding of storage systems architectures and SANs
• knowledge of virtualization technologies

Skills and abilities

• Able to work for extended hours
• Able to provide support in a 24x7 production environment
• Provide on-call support either on site or work from home on a rotating schedule
• Able to communicate effectively to senior team members and other teams
