Field Inspector (Advanced Turbine Support)

ABOUT US:

Advanced Turbine Support (ATS), subsidiary of Allied Power Group (APG), provides specialized inspection services. Across APG and its operating companies, we support critical power infrastructure through inspection, maintenance, repair, and field service expertise.  

DESCRIPTION:

The Field Inspector is responsible for performing on-site field-based NDE/NDT inspections on turbine gas and steam turbine components to assess structural integrity and ensure continued operation without compromising safety or performance.

Additionally, perform several different tasks to include, but not limited to, borescope inspections, dye penetrant inspections using chemicals, and other methods of NDE/NDT inspections.

Job Functions:

• Perform visual and borescope inspections on turbine components, inlets, exhausts, rotors, casings and blades.
• Conduct dye penetrant testing with the use of aerosol chemicals and cleaners to identify defects.
• Working with aerosol chemicals, cleaners and precision tools for testing.
• Document inspection findings clearly and accurately using digital tools and inspection software.
• Communicate findings to engineering teams and site supervisors.
• Adhere to all site safety procedures and OSHA guidelines.
• May be required to travel immediately upon completion of a job to meet next site’s inspection schedule.

WORK QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Strong attention to detail and safety awareness
• Ability to travel up to 80% of the time, sometimes on a limited notice

Preferred:

• Prior experience inspecting gas and steam turbine components
• Prior experience inspecting gas and steam turbine components
• Minimum of 2 years of NDE/NDT experience in industrial environment
• Minimum of 2 years of borescope experience in aviation or industrial environment
• Proficiency in MS Word and Excel

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Required:

• High School Diploma or equivalent

Preferred:

• Level I, Level II Dye Penetrant, Eddy Current, Ultrasonics

• Must be able to work in tight spaces and at heights several stories above ground.
• Must be able to climb ladders and scaffoldings and use of fall protection equipment.
• Must be able to bend/stoop, squat, reach above shoulder height, crouch, balance, and push/pull.
• Must be able to sit, stand and walk for long periods of time or until the end of the assigned shift.
• Must be able to tolerate noise, dust and the use of chemicals associated with penetrant testing with the use of PPE.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs. safely and properly, as needed throughout the assigned shift with or without assistance.
