Overview:

NSI is a leading player in the natural private label food industry, dedicated to providing high-quality, organic, and sustainably sourced food products to consumers. We are seeking a Director of Commodity Sourcing with a strong trading background and proven expertise in negotiating complex international deals in both spanish and english. This individual will be responsible for developing and executing commodity sourcing strategies across multiple categories, with an emphasis on organic ingredients. The ideal candidate is sharp, aggressive, and thrives in high-stakes negotiations.


Key responsibilities:

  • Lead sourcing and trading strategies for key commodities, ensuring cost-competitive and reliable supply.
  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships while applying a rigorous, tough-minded approach to negotiation.
  • Monitor global market trends, commodity pricing, and risk factors to inform buying decisions.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to align sourcing strategies with company goals and customer requirements.
  • Manage supplier performance, contracts, and compliance to ensure the highest quality and sustainability standards.
  • Expand NSI’s global sourcing footprint, identifying new opportunities and mitigating supply risks.
  • Travel extensively to various supply chain partners, trade shows and high-risk regions.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in commodity trading, with a focus on organic food ingredients.
  • Proven track record of negotiating aggressively and successfully in international markets.
  • Deep knowledge of commodity markets, trading dynamics, and risk management.
  • Strong analytical skills and business acumen.
  • Experience with agricultural commodities that grow in South America such as seeds and sweeteners/sugar is a strong plus.
  • Resilient, tough-minded, and thrives in fast-paced, high-pressure environments.
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively internationally, up to 40%, 

Education and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required in Business, Economics, International Trade, Supply Chain, Agribusiness, or a related field. Master’s degree (MBA or equivalent) preferred, especially with a focus on international trade, supply chain, or finance.
  • Must have professional proficiency in Spanish and English (oral and written).

Work environment:

  • Remote work available but candidates must be living in close proximity to NSI’s office in Barcelona for in-office or in-person meetings. 
  • Candidates must be flexible in regards to their schedule to accommodate working with an international team.
