Roles & Responsibilities

  • U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain/maintain a TS/SCI security clearance
  • Minimum six years of Unix/Linux engineering experience; or RHCSA certification with seven years of experience if uncertified
  • Systems Engineer skill set focused on Unix-based systems (Red Hat Linux and Oracle Linux)
  • Bachelor's degree preferred

Requirements:

  • Design, install, implement, configure, and provide ongoing support for the Unix/Linux infrastructure, including interoperability across base OS, libraries, and application dependencies
  • Build and manage bare-metal and virtual Linux environments, configure networks and patch levels using tools such as Satellite Server, and provision software (web servers, databases)
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain systems; implement recovery procedures for failures and performance bottlenecks; maintain security, backups, redundancy, and apply DISA STIGs and security baselines updated quarterly
  • Provide third-level support; develop and maintain custom scripts to increase efficiency; implement MFA integration between Linux environments and enterprise Windows infrastructure

Job description

Overview:

The Principal Systems Engineer II (Unix/Linux) will be responsible for design, deployment, testing, certification, patching, addressing interoperability issues, not only of the base operating system, but for all support libraries, components, and application dependencies. 

This position requires an active Top Secret Clearance in order to be considered.  Work to be performed onsite in Pocatello, ID;

Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for the engineering design, installation, implementation, and configuration as well as ongoing support of the Unix/Linux Infrastructure.
  • Possess advanced knowledge and skill for all Linux environments.
  • Create and maintain bare-metal and virtual machines with the appropriate distribution and patch levels of Linux and network configuration, using tools that include Satellite Server.
  • Provision/configure required software onto servers, such as web servers and databases.
  • Evaluate, improve, and maintain the information security throughout the Linux infrastructure.
  • Monitor and correct server issues and create recovery processes for failures and performance bottlenecks.
  • Manage and monitor all installed systems and infrastructure.
  • Possess excellent knowledge base in DNS, DHCP, LDAP, SMTP, and integration with Windows to solve functional or technical issues.
  • Install, configure, test, and maintain operating systems, application software and system management tools
  • Maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies
  • Write and maintain custom scripts to increase system efficiency and lower the human intervention time on any tasks
  • Provide 3rd level of support.
  • Build new baselines with the appropriate security and access controls to include DISA STIGS and required security controls. Updated baselines will be required quarterly and new versions within 90 days of the manufacturer’s release to production and full DISA STIGS.
  • Engineer multi factor authentication between Linux environments and the enterprise Windows infrastructure components.
Qualifications:
  • U.S. citizenship is required per contract to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI Security Clearance
  • This position shall be filled with individuals that have a minimum of  six years of experience or Red Hat Certified Systems Administrator (RHCSA) and seven years of experience required if no certification.We prefer candidates who already have this, but we will allow 6 months to obtain for those who don’t have it.
  • Systems Engineer skill set with focus on Unix based systems such as Red Hat Linux and Oracle Linux.
  • A Bachelor's degree is preferred.
