Roles & Responsibilities

  • Genuine concern about solving the STEM education gender gap and interest in JerseySTEM mission
  • Interest in data-based decision making and familiarity with K-12 school data
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to work in a virtual organization with digital tools (G-Suite, Slack, Jira, Salesforce)
  • Flexible schedule availability to conduct daytime calls with school admins during the workweek

Requirements:

  • Partner with the Data Analytics team to identify schools of interest among New Jersey's 2000+ middle schools and select targets according to criteria established by the board
  • Research schools, identify stakeholders (school admins) and locate their contact information; assign schools to Area Managers and establish outreach targets/goals
  • Collaborate with Area Managers to call on identified target schools
  • Participate in COME leadership team activities and attend weekly virtual team meetings (4-6 hours per week, 6 month minimum)

About JerseySTEM:

All JerseySTEM roles are pro-bono (unpaid) positions.

JerseySTEM is a mission-driven professional network of pro-bono contributors dedicated to improving access to STEM education and career pathways for underserved middle school girls in New Jersey.

Members contribute their professional skills and leverage their networks in service of the organization’s gender-equity agenda.

Membership is a minimum six-month commitment of approximately six flexible hours per week and includes a $100 refundable deposit, returned after six months of active membership. K–12 educators, retirees, veterans, interns, and students are exempt from the deposit.

Overview:

 

This is a pro-bono position.

 

JerseySTEM provides free after school STEM classes to underserved middle school girls grade 5-8.

The Community Engagement Business Development  provides leadership, direction and planning to identify, reach out to and engage with Middle Schools of interest  that could benefit from our afterschool STEM programs for underserved middle school Girls. They manage a team of Area Managers  responsible for specific regions or specific schools

Responsibilities:

Qualifications:

  • Would be a plus if candidate has flexible schedule to allow for day time calls with the school admins during the work week
