About the Role

We are looking for an AI Architect to define, evolve, and operationalize our AI strategy across the engineering organization. This role blends technical leadership, hands-on architecture, product partnership, and organizational influence.

You will work closely with Product Management and Engineering Leadership to ensure AI is used consistently, effectively, and strategically across six product engineering teams—while encouraging experimentation and innovation within the teams to collaborate on finding the best solutions.

This is not a research role. We’re looking for a builder and systems thinker who can translate emerging AI capabilities into scalable, production-ready solutions.

Strategy & Vision

  • Define the long-term AI vision and technical direction for the product

  • Partner with Product Management to influence product strategy and roadmap

  • Identify opportunities where AI can meaningfully improve customer value

Architecture & Technical Leadership

  • Design and review architectures and system designs

  • Establish standards and best practices for AI development

  • Coordinate AI technologies and tooling across teams

  • Guide decisions around build vs. buy vs. open-source adoption

Research, Experimentation & Enablement

  • Lead research and experimentation into new AI technologies

  • Evaluate emerging tools, models, and platforms

  • Drive education through documentation, workshops, and mentorship

Organizational Influence

  • Influence without direct authority across multiple teams

  • Drive alignment and adoption of AI standards

  • Lead change management for new tools and approaches

Hands-On Contribution

  • Stay close to the code and models when needed

  • Support teams with prototyping, troubleshooting, and architectural decisions

  • Help modernize legacy AI systems and address technical debt

Technology Stack

  • Cloud: GCP (primary), AWS

  • AI/ML: Transformers, embedding, model distillation, open classifier models for images, video, and structured data

  • MLOps and model lifecycle management

  • Hugging Face ecosystem

  • Infrastructure: TPUs, NPUs, GPUs, CPUs (inference), GPUs (training)

What We’re Looking For

  • 8–10+ years of experience in software and AI systems development

  • Experience as a Staff/Principal Engineer, CTO, VP Engineering, or similar

  • Strong architectural and system design skills

  • Proven ability to influence and lead across teams

  • Hands-on experience with production AI systems at scale

  • Strong communication and teaching skills

  • Experience in small to mid-sized organizations preferred

Security Requirements

  • Candidates must undergo a criminal records check upon hire;

  • Be a Canadian Citizen (dual citizens included), or eligible to work in Canada;

  • Be willing to comply with Solink’s own security policies and standards.
