Roles & Responsibilities

  • 8+ years of software engineering experience with strong expertise in Ruby on Rails (or similar frameworks)
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional engineering teams with coaching and mentoring experience and strong communication skills
  • Solid understanding of Agile and DevOps practices, cloud-based architectures, scalable system design, and experience delivering SaaS products (accounting/financial tools a plus)

  • Own the software delivery process for squads, ensuring high-quality, timely, and scalable solutions; collaborate with Product Management to define requirements and execution plans

  • Collaborate across teams including engineers, product owners, and business stakeholders; act as a technical advisor and decision-maker to ensure best practices and standards

Job Summary


As an Engineering Manager at Qoyod, you will oversee the technical direction, execution, and delivery of key projects while fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence. You will lead a cross-functional team, ensuring seamless alignment between business goals and technical execution. This role combines technical leadership, team management, and strategic planning to drive impactful solutions that support SMBs in achieving their goals.


Responsibilities


  • Team Leadership and Development
    • Lead, manage, and mentor a cross-functional team of 8-10 engineers, fostering an environment of growth and innovation.
    • Develop career growth and development plans tailored to your direct reports.
    • Drive team engagement and satisfaction by creating a collaborative and supportive culture.
  • Project Delivery and Execution
    • Own the software delivery process for your squads, ensuring high-quality, timely, and scalable solutions.
    • Work closely with Product Management to define product requirements and craft detailed execution plans.
    • Partner with stakeholders to manage project scope and ensure alignment with business objectives.
  • Technical Leadership and Strategy
    • Contribute to the development and execution of the long-term technical roadmap in collaboration with engineering leadership.
    • Build reliable, scalable systems that align with Qoyod’s growth ambitions.
    • Serve as the key interface between strategy and delivery, driving both technical and business outcomes.
  • Collaboration and Communication
    • Collaborate effectively across teams, including engineers, product owners, and business stakeholders, to align on goals and priorities.
    • Act as a technical advisor and decision-maker for your team, guiding solutions to align with best practices and organizational standards.


Qualifications


  • Technical Expertise: 8+ years of experience developing, shipping, and maintaining software engineering projects, with strong expertise in Ruby on Rails (or similar frameworks).
  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Leadership Experience: Proven ability to lead cross-functional engineering teams, with experience in coaching and mentoring engineers.
  • Project Management: Strong understanding of Agile and DevOps practices, with a track record of delivering high-quality software.
  • Communication: Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and align diverse teams.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based architectures, and scalable system design.
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate between technical and business domains effectively.
  • Experience in SaaS product development, particularly in accounting or financial management tools is a plus.
