Composites Auditor - Independent Contractor

Roles & Responsibilities

  • One to three years of auditing experience
  • Three years direct experience in aerospace-grade composites covering basic physical, mechanical and chemical properties; basic raw material testing methods; storage, handling and environmental controls; facilities experience (autoclaves, laser projectors, ply cutters); processing of various composite materials; bagging procedures and tooling requirements
  • Three years experience in at least two of the following major composite fabrication processes: Prepreg/Adhesive Bonding, Metal Bonding and Core Processing
  • Quality Assurance experience

Requirements:

  • Conduct independent audits of composites manufacturing processes and quality systems (e.g., Prepreg/Adhesive Bonding, Metal Bonding, Core Processing)
  • Assess basic physical, mechanical and chemical properties, raw material testing methods, storage/handling, environmental controls, facilities, processing, bagging procedures and tooling requirements
  • Travel domestically and internationally to perform audits on a flexible schedule
  • Document audit findings, provide actionable recommendations, and stay current with technology and developments in composites by networking with industry professionals

Job description

Overview:

This Composites auditor position is an excellent opportunity for recent retirees or consultants that have experience in compression molding, core and / or liquid resin processing, metal bond, adhesive bonding, basic physical, mechanical and chemical properties of composite materials.

 

Our auditors enjoy traveling domestically and/or internationally, a flexible schedule (some auditors perform 1 or 2 audits a month, while others desire to audit every week), competitive compensation that includes a daily rate plus travel expenses, meeting new people and keeping in touch with technology and the latest developments, networking with other industry professionals.

Qualifications:

 The ideal auditor candidate will possess most of the following criteria:

  • One to three (1-3) years of auditing experience 
  • Three (3) years direct experience (aerospace industry preferred) in the following aspects of composites: basic physical, mechanical and chemical properties of composite materials; basic raw material testing methods; storage, handling and environmental controls; facilities experience (autoclaves, laser projectors, ply cutters); processing of various composite materials; bagging procedures and tooling requirements
  • Three (3) years experience (aerospace industry preferred) in at least two of the following major composite fabrication processes: Prepreg/Adhesive Bonding, Metal Bonding and Core Processing
  • Quality Assurance Experience
