Roles & Responsibilities

  • PhD in Economics, Statistics, Public Policy, or a closely related field
  • 4-5 years of research experience in a university or research-institution setting with demonstrated research output
  • Experience with data cleaning, data merging, and statistical/regression analyses; preferably with electronic health records or health-related data
  • Proficiency with standard computing resources and statistical analysis software

Requirements:

  • Access and familiarize themselves with existing electronic health records datasets
  • Clean and harmonize datasets to be broadly comparable along geographic lines and variables, in collaboration with the faculty member and other team members
  • Produce standard summary statistics and regression analyses for the research questions as directed by the team members
  • Gather additional data on national-level policies and interventions related to the project and participate in weekly meetings with principal investigators; work in a fully remote position

Job description

Description of work to be performed/provided:  Economic analysis of COVID-19 related mobility restrictions, and related short- and long-term health outcomes using Public Health and related Electronic Health Records. The impact of various place-based policies on the health and socio-economic outcomes of under-represented and Indigenous populations; the intergenerational transmission of inequality and the role of government policies. In particular, the work will include data cleaning, merging and statistical and regression analyses for several existing confidential-use data sets. The analysis will be output in standard research format of tables, figures and written text. 

The duties will be: a) Access and familiarize themselves with the existing electronic health records data sets; b) Clean and harmonize to the extent possible these data sets so that they are broadly comparable along geographic lines and questions/variables. This will be conducted in collaboration with the faculty member and other team members; c) produce standard summary statistics and regression analysis for the research question as directed by the team members; d) gather some additional data on existing national level policies and interventions that may be hypothesized to be related to the existing research project; e) Researcher will meet weekly with the PIs on this project and it is feasible for this to be a fully remote position.

Time: 35 hours per week

Salary Total: $35,000

Start Date: November 15, 2025 - February 28, 2026.

Location: Positions will be remote

Minimum Requirements: A PhD in Economics, Statistics or Public Policy. The ideal candidate would have 4-5 years experience in a research institution or university setting and have demonstrated research output. The candidate should have access to standard computing resources and statistical analysis software.
