Accedo develops applications and solutions for the Television, Broadcast and Streaming industry, providing a range of engineering challenges for our Development Teams. We offer a portfolio of experience-centric video solutions that enable our customers to monetise video and transform video services to meet rapidly changing consumer expectations and to compete better. Accedo customers include over 350 of the world’s leading video service providers, such as Sky TV NZ, Vodafone NZ, Spark, TVNZ, Fox, HBO, NBC Universal, StarHub, among many others.

What we are looking for

Accedo is looking for a full-time permanent Senior Software Engineer, Back-End in the Global Service Management team based in Brazil to provide expert development and project implementation skills for the Latin America region. Your major responsibilities will include:

You will play a key role in bug fixes in the production applications and verify resolution
Feature development, SDK updates and code enhancement, refactoring, and review
Actively participate in Customer discussions, requirements analysis and testing support.

Skills and Experience

Expert knowledge of platform specific language, frameworks and tools
Excellent knowledge of software development fundamentals (data structures, algorithms)
Expert with at least one SCM system and related concepts, e.g. Git, Subversion, Bitbucket
Strong experience integrating open source or 3rd party APIs and Libraries
In-depth understanding of development methodologies (Agile/Scrum, Waterfall), testing practices, and tools and knowing when to apply each method to achieve the desired outcomes
Possess System or Solution architect experience for non-trivial projects with:
Knowledge in the most common pitfalls and know how to properly design an application (server components)
Good instincts around project planning and estimations
Passion and the “get the job done” attitude to solve various problems
Excellent English communication skills both verbal and written, fluency in additional language(s) would be hugely advantageous
JavaScript (Web/Back-End) Engineering Requirement
Proficient and experience in HTML5, JavaScript, CSS and AJAX
Excellent knowledge in Server-side scripting skills (Node.js, Express)
Experience designing and building RESTful API services
Experience in using cloud service providers (e.g.: AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
Experience in other tech stacks is also beneficial (Java, Ruby, PHP, etc.)
Familiarity with gulp, grunt, webpack and building dynamic web applications with JavaScript frameworks such as React / Redux, Node.js, AngularJS is a plus
Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT or related discipline(s)
At least 5 years of professional experiences developing applications in multiple platforms
Experience in Video and media based development projects (DRM, OVPs, Advertising, Analytics)
Strong experience and knowledge of Design and Architectural patterns and knows when to apply them
Interested and eager to dive into new technology areas and immerse in topics relevant to the business
Ability to mentor junior developer, technical support engineers and team members
Exposure to Agile, Continuous Integration, Test Driven Development is a plus
