Our client is a UK-headquartered company specializing in the manufacture of toys across Asia. We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Manager to be responsible for overseeing the technical aspects of soft toy development and production. This includes ensuring product design, materials, and manufacturing processes align with quality, safety, and compliance standards. The role involves collaboration with cross-functional teams such as design, production, and quality assurance to deliver high-quality soft toys.
Job Description
1. Product Development & Technical Oversight
● Work closely with designers and product developers to translate creative concepts into
manufacturable soft toys.
● Review and approve technical specifications, prototypes, and production samples.
● Oversee pattern-making, sewing techniques, and assembly processes to ensure consistency and
quality.
2. Material Selection
● Evaluate and approve fabrics, stuffing, and accessories used in soft toys for durability, safety, and
cost-effectiveness.
● Ensure all materials comply with safety standards (e.g., EN71, ASTM F963, CPSIA).
3. Manufacturing & Production
● Provide technical guidance to manufacturing teams to improve production efficiency and resolve
technical issues.
● Monitor production processes to ensure alignment with approved specifications.
● Conduct root cause analysis for any defects or quality issues during production.
4. Quality Assurance
● Collaborate with QA teams to develop and implement quality control protocols specific to soft
toys.
● Oversee pre-production inspections, in-line quality checks, and final product audits.
● Ensure compliance with international safety standards and regulations for toys.
5. Team Collaboration
● Train and mentor technical staff in soft toy development and manufacturing techniques.
● Act as a liaison between design, production, and quality assurance teams to streamline
workflows.
6. Compliance and Certification
● Stay updated on international toy safety regulations and ensure product compliance.
● Manage the certification process for soft toys, including testing and documentation.
7. Cost Management
● Collaborate with procurement and production teams to manage costs without compromising
quality.
● Optimize material usage and manufacturing processes to meet budget goals.
Requirements
● Bachelor’s degree in Textile Engineering, Product Design, or a related field.
● Minimum 5–7 years of experience in the toy/textile/footwear industry, with at least 2 years in a
managerial role.
● Strong knowledge of toy manufacturing processes, including pattern making, sewing, and
assembly.
● Familiarity with international safety standards for toys (e.g., EN71, ASTM F963).
● Proficiency in CAD software for toy design and technical specifications (preferred).
● Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
● Strong leadership and team management skills.
● Effective communication and collaboration with cross-functional teams.
