The Role: SQL Commercial Manager
This freelance role supports the commercial operations of a growing construction supply chain business. You'll manage and optimise SQL-based systems used for pricing, forecasting, invoicing, and procurement across multiple international projects. You'll also play a hands-on role in commercial reporting and supplier engagement, helping the business grow with accurate, timely insights.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain SQL-based commercial data models and reports

• Track, analyse, and report on budgets, quotes, and supplier costs

• Liaise with UK-based suppliers, clients, and project managers

• Integrate data between pricing, procurement, and invoicing systems

• Support cost/value reconciliation and weekly commercial reporting

• Handle ad hoc commercial administration and analysis tasks

• Optimise workflows to scale with growing project demands

• Build strong relationships across internal and external stakeholders

About You

• Minimum 3 years commercial SQL experience

• Proven knowledge of budgeting, procurement data, or cost tracking

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

• Strong Excel/Google Sheets skills; Power BI or Airtable a plus

• Based in Cape Town (or able to work UK business hours reliably)

• Confident, personable, and proactive with a service-oriented mindset

• Experience in glazing, aluminium framing, or construction supply chains highly preferred

• Comfortable with zero-hour contract work and flexible task delivery
