The Role: Engineering Delivery Lead

As Engineering Delivery Lead, your role is to sharpen the delivery muscle of one or more engineering squads. Part team coach, part project manager, and part delivery enabler, you will ensure the right work gets done quickly, clearly, and to a high standard.

You'll own daily execution, guide delivery practices, remove blockers, and hold the team to account on pace and quality. This is a hands-on role where you'll influence both people and process to help the team stay aligned, prioritised, and productive.

Key Responsibilities

• Own day-to-day delivery operations for one or more engineering squads

• Run Agile ceremonies including stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives

• Hold engineers accountable for delivery commitments and output quality

• Maintain momentum by identifying blockers early and clearing risks

• Drive prioritisation efforts with engineers and product managers

• Coach engineers on estimation, focus, and delivery habits

• Keep delivery tools (e.g., Linear, Slack) up to date and well used

• Provide regular, structured progress updates to leadership

• Line manage engineers including 1:1s and performance feedback

About You

• 3+ years experience in a Delivery Lead, Engineering Manager, Scrum Master, or similar role

• Strong background in Agile delivery within a startup or high-growth environment

• Confident in driving stand-ups, retrospectives, and planning sessions

• Strong grasp of engineering team dynamics and delivery best practices

• Excellent communication and prioritisation skills

• Able to provide candid feedback and hold team members accountable

• Highly organised, persuasive, and focused on results

• Based in South Africa, available to work 9am6pm UK time
