About the role
As a Lead Product Designer, you’ll join a dynamic team working to build a best in class global food platform across Samsung, at the intersection of technology, wellness, and behavior design — helping millions of users make meaningful, positive changes in their daily lives.
As a Lead Product Designer, you’ll lead design projects of significant scope, complexity and responsibility in creative vision, strategy and execution. You’ll also help lead and support a team of multi-disciplinary designers working across different initiatives.
In this role, you will:
- Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary design, product management and engineering teams to frame user needs and behaviour, define optimized user flows, and tweak pixels before launch. You’ll be responsible for driving design vision and delivering thoughtful and polished design work to ultimately build and ship the best products.
- Shape and communicate the user experience vision for all surfaces across initiatives, from health, care, food and nutrition to connected home. Work on projects from start to finish, participating in and facilitating UX initiatives such as design sprints, content mapping, sketching, wireframing, and high- and low-fidelity prototyping.
- Proactively identify and frame emerging opportunities in care, health, and connected experiences that can influence Samsung’s multi-year strategy, leveraging insights from user behavior, market trends, and competitive landscapes.
- Drive customer focus by initiating and facilitating user research. Stay close to insights and data to understand the impact of the team’s work and help build context and make decisions informed by empathy for our customers.
- Leverage an agile, iterative design approach in a fast-paced environment, adapting quickly to pivots, shifting priorities, and evolving timelines while maintaining a long-term strategic lens.
- Lead and support the entire team by being an active mentor for others, sharing insights, and best practices. Help manage design reviews, collaborate in roadmap planning, and triage incoming design tasks.
- Apply systems thinking to evolve and innovate on our design system and visual language across the entire platform, ensuring a cohesive, holistic user experience aligned with global best practices and Samsung One UI principles.
Qualifications
What we’re looking for:
- Expert knowledge of the end-to-end iterative design process, including how to develop and use personas, journey mapping, content strategy, art direction, wireframing and prototyping, user testing, and high fidelity visuals.
- Deep experience with driving and applying user-centered design processes and best practices while working with cross-functional teams and partners.
- The ability to craft beautiful designs and delightful, useful, and usable experiences; you have strengths in visual design, interaction, and product design.
- Excellent communication and storytelling skills; you have the ability to help your cross-functional collaborators (PMs, designers, engineers, etc) and stakeholders understand the “why” behind your design rationale.
- Strong proficiency in research, comfortable participating in and facilitating user research and customer interviews.
- Familiarity with a data-informed approach to design — you’ve used tools and resources needed to measure the success of design decisions (Google Analytics, MixPanel, Amplitude, etc.)
- Strong leadership and mentorship skills; you inspire and guide other designers, help manage and coordinate team efforts, and foster a collaborative and supportive environment.
- Happy to work flexibly across time zones and flourish in a distributed environment (our team is located between West Coast USA (GMT-8) and Korea (GMT+8).
- A passion for food, cooking, and health and wellness.
- Experience designing consumer software or apps in health, nutrition, or related domains.
Requirements
- Degree or equivalent in design field preferred
- 5+ years of experience in a Senior Design role
- Proficient in design tools such as Figma, After Effects, etc
- Portfolio showcasing examples of your work (including process such as research, ideation, and Figma files)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
