Under the leadership of the National Director of Signature Events, this self-starting individual is responsible for driving fundraising success through strategic and tactical consultation, execution focused on key fundraising, and stewardship program elements that ensure success of Breakthrough T1D for Signature Events (gala, golf and other special events) within their assigned division. Through collaboration and coordination with national and divisional teams, chapter staff, and volunteer partners, the National Manager, Signature Events provides expertise, leadership, and guidance to help facilitate success in assigned markets.
The National Manager, Signature Events champions a strategic and integrated approach to excellence in program development. This includes pipeline development in the areas of Fund A Cure, sponsorship and individual donor development, as well as high level volunteer leader engagement, training and coaching to increase fundraising at all levels while ensuring an extraordinary donor experience. Working closely with chapter and divisional staff partners, the National Manager partners in supporting markets in their strategy, planning, training and execution on the highest impact priorities to deliver successful implementation and financial results of the program to fulfill Breakthrough T1D’s mission.
Key Responsibilities:
Fundraising
- Assists in driving fundraising excellence and success through the development and delivery of overall Breakthrough T1D Signature Events core program strategies, timeline and to annually grow program revenue, relationships and meet Breakthrough T1D’s national strategic plan.
- Collaborates with key national stakeholders and utilizes data trends to drive and deliver greater revenue through prioritized initiatives.
- Partners with assigned chapter and divisional leadership to drive and deliver greater revenue and stronger relationships. This includes planning, strategy development, coaching, partnering, stewardship and high-level execution, when necessary, with chapter leadership to increase individual donors (Fund A Cure), sponsorships, and ensure high level volunteer leadership recruitment and engagement.
- Builds a collaborative relationship with divisional teams and works together to address specific market/chapter characteristics, challenges, and opportunities to increase revenue. Ensures the greatest donor and guest experience at events with a strong emphasis on acquisition, retention and upgrade.
Volunteerism
- Partners with assigned chapters to create strategies to coach and encourage volunteer leadership to solicit funding and other support from individuals, corporations, foundations, and other sources of funding where they have influence.
- Partners with assigned chapters and markets to build, establish, and maintain a reliable volunteer pipeline for each event. Supports the development and implementation of strategies aimed at effective succession planning efforts for each event.
Awareness
- Builds a collaborative relationship with Marcom, Community Engagement & Strategic Initiatives, and Program Resources stakeholders to elevate and enhance specific market opportunities to increase awareness, engagement, and revenue.
- Ensures excellence in implementation of all core strategies with a strong emphasis on acquisition, retention, and upgrades.
- Builds a collaborative relationship with the volunteer engagement stakeholders to elevate and enhance specific market opportunities for volunteer leadership roles to increase engagement, revenue and awareness.
Program Management / Admin
- Weekly evaluates all KPIs and revenue streams across the Gala program and identifies trends that will assist chapters and territories in their assigned Division to identify actionable tactics in support of program strategies that will drive outcomes.
- Assists supervisor with reviewing budget and forecasts to inform chapter and divisional teams of areas of opportunity and risk for Signature Events. Upon identifying gaps, builds strategy and the roadmap to close the gap to meet and exceed budget.
- Partners on content development and facilitation of Gala learning opportunities offered to field staff through national and divisional in-person and virtual sessions to maximize growth of programs. As needed, serves as the primary contact for assigned chapters’ new staff orientation, program onboarding and training.
- Provides input and, as assigned, develops and continuously improves resources that support excellence for Signature Events program strategies.
- Completes special projects as assigned and partners with national departments when applicable to ensure excellence of the project.
- Performs all other responsibilities and projects as assigned by their immediate supervisor and senior management.
Qualifications:
- 5 years of relevant fundraising experience including significant experience in Signature Events fundraising.
- Direct experience in leading, managing and growing Gala programs over $1 million and Golf events over $150,000.
- 3 years working and collaborating with high level volunteers.
- Superior ability to influence and deliver results through a strategic and consultative role. Exceptional management, leadership, decision-making and team-building skills.
- Proficiency with technology to support the development process, including online giving and event management systems/fundraising platforms. Experience with Greater Giving and Sales Force preferred.
- 5 years of event planning, experience and skill in non-profit management with emphasis on strategic planning, revenue generation, relationship maximization and stewardship, logistics, financial management, and organizations with chapter and/or divisional structures.
- Detail-oriented and strong organizational skills.
- Demonstrated competency when handling diversified assignments.
- Team player that can demonstrate the ability to interface with all levels of staff and volunteers. Ability to influence and collaborate to ensure success and accountability in the field
- Capability to leverage relationships, both externally and internally.
- Excellent written, oral, and communication skills.
- Ability for presentation delivery, conveying ideas, influencing action and instructing effectively.

- Ability to ensure that the confidentiality and security of all information under their supervision is maintained.
- Ability to travel up to 40% of the time or as per the needs of program and chapters.
- College degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
Target Salary - $75k - $95k
