Sr. Principal Enterprise Architect - Application Platform - Remote
Job Description
The Enterprise Application Platform Architect will be responsible for providing leadership from an enterprise-wide perspective in the strategy, design, review and selection of solutions for Prime’s common application platforms and frameworks. The position will provide architectural guidance, oversight and governance for common development and runtime platforms including API Platforms, Integration Platforms, Application Platforms, Data Platforms, and Quality Assurance Platforms. This includes defining the common application platforms architectural vision, strategy, principles and standards and acquiring buy-in from business and IT stakeholders. The Enterprise Application Platform Architect will partner and collaborate with domain and portfolio architects to define and oversee all aspects of architecture, design, techniques and the tool-stack for common application platforms
Responsibilities
- Develop an enterprise application common platform(s) strategy to achieve enterprise architecture goals and objectives.
- Actively manage, communicate and market the application platform strategy and techniques via creation and maintenance of architecture blueprints, roadmaps and executive presentations.
- Inform business and IT leaders of opportunities and constraints presented by the organization's current state and target state through capability maturity and IT service health assessments.
- Inform business and IT leaders of opportunities related to new application platforms and new versions of application platforms
- Alignment of IT strategy and planning with company's business goals and objectives by directly influencing the company’s strategic investment plan
- Direct involvement in the development of policies, standards and guidelines that direct the selection, development, implementation and use of common application platforms within the enterprise.
- Establish metrics and model for measuring the total cost of ownership for our common application platforms
- Assist in developing business cases for enterprise IT advancement and maturation
- Develop program and project visions and roadmaps
- Promotion of shared capabilities to reduce costs and improve agility. Ensure that projects do not duplicate functionality or diverge from each other and business and IT strategies through architectural reviews, solution architecture and application architecture collaboration
- Promote the use and adoption of industry best practices for application architecture frameworks, tools, standards and guidelines and recommends updates to application platform reference architectures, patterns and models as needed.
- Lead research and development efforts (proofs of concept, prototypes), as subject matter expert, when introducing new technologies
- Guide and inform the implementation of new common application platforms.
- Facilitate communications between IT workgroups and business stakeholders for technical issues and/or major changes, acting as the technical domain subject matter expert
- Provide input on projects and road maps regarding compatibility with the business and technical visions for common application platforms.

Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or related area of study, or equivalent combination of education and/or relevant work experience; HS diploma or GED is required
- 10 years of related work experience in Business Analysis, System Design and Development, Systems Engineering, or technical architecture; to include 5 years direct experience working within an Architect role
- Must be eligible to work in the United States without need for work visa or residency sponsorship
Additional Qualifications
- In-depth knowledge of common application development and runtime platforms (Java, .NET, PaaS, IaaS, Containers and Container Orchestration, Mainframe application transformation and modernization, Integration, etc)
- In-depth knowledge of modern integration architecture including APIs, streaming, file transfer, ETL, and change data capture
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to proactively communicate at multiple levels: executive to individual contributor.
- Strong self-management skills in multiple-priority, high ambiguity situations.
- Ability to communicate via presentations, words and pictures.
- Comfortable with resolving conflicting viewpoints and achieving consensus

Preferred Qualifications
- Cloud computing, AWS, Google Cloud, Azure, Containers, Kubernetes, IaaS, PaaS, APIs, Microservices, Managed File Transfer, Streaming, DevOps, Spring, C#, .NET, Java, JEE, FHIR, HL7
- Experience working with regulatory compliance requirements (HIPAA and/or PCI)
- Previous experience in PBM / health care industry
- Previous experience working in an Agile/Product Delivery model
- Strong experience with software development life cycle and project management principles
- In-depth knowledge of two or more architectural domains (application, infrastructure, integration, and/or security)
- Formal Enterprise Architecture training and certification
- Experience modeling Enterprise Architectures with industry standard modeling notation

Potential pay for this position ranges from $143,000.00 - $243,000.00 based on experience and skills.
