πŸ“ Position: Finance Manager

About Clever
Clever is a venture-backed real estate technology company on a mission to revolutionize the way people buy, sell, and manage real estate. We are at the forefront of innovation, combining cutting-edge technology with deep industry expertise to create seamless, efficient, and transparent real estate experiences.

We've built the leading online education platform in real estate and earned a perfect 5.0 TrustPilot rating β€” helping consumers save over $160 million in real estate fees. If you're excited to play a key leadership role at a company that transforms how people navigate their real estate journey, we’d love to hear from you!

πŸ“Œ Role Overview
We are seeking a strategic, hands-on Finance Manager with a proven track record in high-growth start-up environments. The Finance Manager at Clever will work closely with our CFO to strengthen and scale the Company’s financial foundation, ensure GAAP compliance, and align financial strategy with broader business objectives to drive growth.

You will own core finance functions β€” accounting, forecasting, reporting, compliance, and FP&A β€” while generating insights that shape major business decisions. This is a unique opportunity to build the financial backbone of a fast-scaling organization, with the opportunity to grow into a senior finance leader, including ownership of the month-end close, Company model, monthly business reviews, and building a high-performing team.

πŸ“‹ Key Responsibilities

πŸ“Š Accounting & Compliance

  • Lead timely, accurate month-end close and reporting cycles.
  • Ensure GAAP compliance and audit readiness, coordinating directly with external auditors.
  • Strengthen internal controls and processes to mitigate risk and support scale.
  • Build and evolve financial infrastructure, policies, and procedures.
  • Monitor departmental spend, identifying inefficiencies and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Conduct variance analysis and implement corrective processes to maintain accuracy and accountability.

πŸ“ˆ Strategic Finance, Planning & Analysis

  • Partner with the executive team on financial strategy, capital allocation, and long-term planning.
  • Own annual budgeting and recurring forecasting cycles.
  • Develop dashboards, KPIs, and scenario analyses that drive accountability and performance.
  • Translate complex financial data into clear, actionable insights for business leaders.
  • Act as a trusted advisor across the organization, fostering financial discipline and literacy.

🎯 Qualifications

  • 5+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience in a high-growth start-up environment.
  • Deep knowledge of GAAP; proven ownership of the monthly close. CPA a plus.
  • Success managing broader FP&A responsibilities, including financial modeling and monthly business reviews; experience in banking, VC/PE, or consulting not required, but a plus.
  • Fluency with modern finance and accounting tools (e.g., QuickBooks, Ramp, Excel, Gusto).
  • Strategic thinker with strong attention to detail, a hands-on approach, and a bias for action and learning.
What We Offer

πŸ’° Salary: $100,000–$130,000, with bonus opportunities based on experience.

πŸ₯ Comprehensive Benefits: Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance.

🌴 Paid Time Off: 18 days PTO (increases with tenure) + 10 paid holidays.

πŸ’Ό 401(k) Plan: Retirement plan through Guideline.

πŸ‘Ά Parental Leave: 6–12 weeks (based on tenure).
