We are seeking a versatile journalist with strong copywriting skills to help us expand our impact across blogs, newsletters, social media, and YouTube.
Responsibilities
Research, write, and edit engaging articles, news briefs, and opeds on veterans’ issues, legal rights, and policy updates
Create compelling copy for blogs, newsletters, landing pages, and social media posts
Assist with scriptwriting for podcasts, webinars, and videos
Conduct factchecking and source verification for accuracy and credibility
Use SEO and research tools to identify highvalue topics and optimize content
Collaborate with the marketing team to align stories and copy with brand guidelines
Repurpose longform journalism into short copy for multiple platforms
Skills & Experience Required
Proven experience in journalism, copywriting, or content creation (portfolio required)
Strong research and factchecking skills; ability to simplify complex topics for a general audience
Excellent written English with strong grammar, clarity, and storytelling ability
Proficiency with:
SEO tools (e.g., SEMrush, Ahrefs, SurferSEO, or similar)
Topic research tools (Google Trends, AnswerThePublic, BuzzSumo, or similar)
Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive)
WordPress (basic postingformatting preferred)
Canva (basic graphic creation for articlessocial media)
Nice to Have (Not Required)
Video editing skills with tools such as Opus Pro, Descript, CapCut, or Adobe Premiere
Experience creating video thumbnails or repurposing text into shortform video
Schedule & Workload
Parttime to start (20 hoursweek)
Opportunity to move into fulltime (40 hoursweek) based on performance and workload
