Job Description: Bookkeeper

Overview: We are seeking a meticulous and experienced Bookkeeper to join our clients team. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in using Xero accounting software, solid understanding of accrual accounting principles, and familiarity with Gusto payroll software. This role will involve managing bookkeeping for LLC partnerships, reconciling accounts, and ensuring accurate financial reporting.

Essential Experience (Must haves):

  1. Xero Expertise:
      • Proficiency in using Xero accounting software.
        • Accrual Accounting:
          • Solid understanding and experience with accrual accounting principles.
            • Gusto Payroll:
              • Familiarity with Gusto payroll software and best practices for payroll bookkeeping.
                • LLC Partnership Bookkeeping:
                  • Familiarity with bookkeeping for LLC partnerships, including reconciling profit distributions against owner equity accounts.
                    • Bookkeeping & Tax Support:
                      • Experience offering combined bookkeeping and tax services.
                        • Cash Accounting:
                          • Solid understanding and experience with cash accounting.
                            • State Tax Law:
                              • Familiarity with Maryland tax laws is beneficial.
                                • Flowrev Knowledge:
                                  • Experience using Flowrev (or similar revenue recognition software) is a plus.
                                    • Specific Bookkeeping Tasks (Critical):

                                      1. Bank & Credit Card Reconciliation:
                                          • Reconcile Xero balances with actual bank and credit card statements.
                                          • Validate monthly statements against corresponding accounts.
                                          • Reconcile payments made against Chase credit cards.
                                            • Departmental Allocation:
                                              • Assign transactions to appropriate departments, both retroactively (in bulk) and moving forward. This may involve utilizing Xeros tracking categories or other features to ensure accurate financial reporting.
                                                • Monthly Close Process:
                                                  • Assist with complex journal entries related to health insurance (payables and expenses).

                                                      Qualifications:

                                                      • Proven experience as a bookkeeper.
                                                      • Advanced proficiency in Xero accounting software.
                                                      • Strong understanding of accrual accounting principles.
                                                      • Familiarity with Gusto payroll software.
                                                      • Experience with bookkeeping for LLC partnerships.
                                                      • Detailoriented with strong organizational skills.
                                                      • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
                                                      • Excellent communication skills.
                                                        • Preferred Qualifications:

                                                          • Experience offering combined bookkeeping and tax services.
                                                          • Understanding of cash accounting principles.
                                                          • Knowledge of Maryland state tax laws.
                                                          • Experience with revenue recognition software like Flowrev.
