Role: Microsoft Systems Administrator

Contract: Full Time, 12month FTC

Salary: Circa £40,000, depending on experience

Location: UK Based, Fully remote (potential trips across HALO International programmes)

The HALO Trust, a sectorleading humanitarian NGO, is seeking an enthusiastic Microsoft Power Platform specialist to join our team.

We are looking for an experienced Microsoft Systems Administrator to support in the expansion of our Microsoft M365 and Azure estate. You will support the Head of IT Operations in creating a stable, scalable architecture that supports the HALO Technology Strategy and helps builds an Enterprisewide ICT function.

Responsibilities:

You will:

  • Administer and maintain Microsoft 365 services (Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, Intune, OneDrive).
  • Manage Azure resources including virtual machines, storage accounts, networking, and identity services.
  • Monitor system performance, availability, and security across M365 and Azure environments.
  • Implement and maintain conditional access policies, MFA, and compliance configurations.
  • Provide Tier 23 support for escalated issues related to M365 and Azure.
  • Automate routine tasks using PowerShell and other scripting tools.
  • Assist in onboardingoffboarding processes and user provisioning.
  • Maintain documentation for system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Collaborate with IT and security teams to ensure best practices in cloud governance.
  • Participate in disaster recovery planning and testing.
  • Work closely with the IT Operations team to ensure friendly and effective onsite and remote support for HALO staff across the UK and 30+ overseas programmes.
  • Monitor and investigate Microsoft security alerts and assist with response to information security incidents.
  • Assist in the implementation of information security technical controls to uphold internal policies and data protection laws.
  • Design and deliver targeted training and knowledgesharing sessions for staff and the service desk.
  • Collaborate with incountry programme teams to provide guidance, support, and pragmatic solutions in lowbandwidth or challenging environments.
  • Contribute ideas to improve reliability, usability, and costeffectiveness; challenge existing practices constructively.
    • Requirements

      Were looking for someone with:

      • 2–4 years of experience in IT systems administration, with at least 1–2 years focused on Microsoft 365 and Azure.
      • Strong understanding of Microsoft 365 services and administration portals.
      • Experience managing Entra, as well as Azure resource groups
      • Proficiency in PowerShell scripting for automation and reporting.
      • Familiarity with Intune and endpoint management.
      • Solid troubleshooting skills across cloud and hybrid environments.
      • Knowledge of identity and access management principles.
      • Passion for technology and curiosity to learn.
      • Ability to thrive in a fastpaced, dynamic environment.
      • Effective communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships crossfunctionally.
      • Ability to remain calm and collected under pressure.
      • Experience in documenting clearly and reviewingimproving existing documentation.
      • Ability to deliver training sessions and create simple guidance for nontechnical users.
        • Required Skillsexperience:

          • Solid experience administering Microsoft 365 services: Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, OneDrive
          • SharePoint Online and Exchange Online administration at scale
          • Familiarity with Microsoft Purview for compliance and governance tasks
          • Experience with Data Loss Prevention (DLP), Information Protection, and Retention Policies
          • Exposure to Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Sentinel
          • Experience with Microsoft Intune and Endpoint Manager for device and application management
          • Experience with backup and recovery solutions in Azure
          • Understanding of licensing models and cost optimization in M365 and Azure
          • Microsoft 365 Administrator (MS102)
          • Azure Administrator Associate (AZ104)
            • Desirable:

              • Experience with responding to alerts using Microsoft 365 Security & Compliance Center
              • Understanding of Zero Trust architecture and secure access principles
              • Information security standards and practices in enterprise environments
              • Familiarity with Microsoft Defender for Endpoint and Microsoft Purview
              • Proficiency in Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI, and Power Pages.
              • Experience in lowcodenocode development and automation.
              • Ability to integrate Power Platform with Microsoft 365, SharePoint, and thirdparty applications.
              • Knowledge of Dataverse, Azure, and API connections.
              • Working knowledge of DNS, DHCP, VPN, and firewall rules
              • Relevant Microsoft certifications
              • CompTIA Security+ certification or equivalent
              • ITIL Foundation certification
              • Experience in solution design, implementation, and troubleshooting.
              • Ability to work on migration projects and business transformation initiatives
