Job description

We are looking for an Analytics Engineering Tech Lead Manager to join our passionate and diverse Data Team. Treatwell is an organisation built on data, but we’re just getting started. In this role, you will be instrumental in shaping our future by ensuring that our data models and analytical capabilities adapt to the rapid pace of our business.

As part of the Marketplace Data Domain Team, you will lead and manage a group of Analytics Engineers and take ownership of the endtoend delivery of our data products designed to empower analysts, product managers, and key business stakeholders with valuable insights. You will collaborate closely with our Data Product Manager and various teams to understand their needs and translate them into actionable deliverables.

In this role, you will leverage your expertise in data model design principles and engineering practices to help the team efficiently deliver highquality and scalable solutions with a focus on selfserving capabilities while ensuring the engineers are supported in their daytoday work. We value opensource platforms such as DBT, Airbtye, Docker, Gitlab and Airflow orchestration in our tech stack. Our services run on a modern cloud platform using Amazon AWS, including Redshift, ECS, Lambda, Cloudwatch, S3, EMR, EC2, Athena. Additionally, we incorporate thirdparty tools like Fivetran, Monte Carlo, Looker, JIRA, and Slack, while continuously evaluating new technologies to enhance our data strategy.

You will be responsible for:

  • Support the Data Product Manager with the discovery of new initiatives to assess their value and feasibility in terms of scope and effort
  • Guide the team on agile delivery principles, including project breakdown into manageable deliverables
  • Assist the team by defining the frameworks for data quality, testing, documentation, observability and data governance
  • Foster a culture of collaboration and knowledge sharing between engineers and drive accountability and ownership within a crossfunctional Marketplace Data Domain Team
  • Lead the strategy and design of data models and the data warehouse
  • Empower highquality data modelling of core data assets using SQL, DBT, and LookML and ensure a smooth delivery to the business
  • Identify opportunities for automation and eliminating repetitive analyses and tasks whenever possible
  • Educate the business on the value of datadriven culture and approach to decisionmaking
    • About You

      • Extensive experience with data modelling and data design concepts, especially Dimensional Models (Kimball, Inmon, Data Marts) but also OBT (One big table)
      • Excellent SQL skills with a focus on writing performant queries. Experience in other programming languages, such as Python, is a plus
      • A passionate team player who enjoys collaborating and pairing to achieve shared goals
      • Proven leadership skills that enable a team to work together to achieve a common goal with prior line management experience
      • Articulate communicator comfortable discussing technical matters with both engineers and stakeholders at all levels of the business
      • Strong applied knowledge in using agile practices to manage the endtoend delivery process
      • Creative problem solver with an understanding of when a minimally viable solution can deliver 80% of the required needs ahead of a fully perfect solution
      • Proficient with version control principles, git, and the commandline interface
      • Highly proficient with ETL (ELT) process and DBT
      • Prior experience using LookML is a plus
      • Fluent communication skills (both verbal and written) in English. Any other European language is a plus
      • You are based in Italy or Spain, and hold a valid right to work
