Who We’re Looking For (Position Overview)

We’re looking for an Automation Engineer with NetApp storage expertise. Our ideal candidate will have a solid background in NetApp storage, as well as experience automating at an enterprise scale with Red Hat Ansible. Ideally, we need a candidate who also has experience with container-based architectures using Docker and Kubernetes. This role is customer-facing and is responsible for container-based, cloud, and automation technologies in a large-scale customer storage environment that is primarily NetApp. Our ideal candidate will enjoy the challenge of dealing with new technologies, desire lots of customer interaction and be comfortable working independently or as part of a larger team.

What You Need to Succeed (Required)
Technical
  1. Demonstrable hands-on technical experience with NetApp ONTAP, StorageGRID and AFF.
  2. Demonstrable hands-on technical experience with Red Hat Ansible.
  3. Hands-on container and orchestration experience (Docker, Kubernetes, Red Hat OpenShift, Rancher, GKE, EKS, etc.).
  4. Strong programming or scripting skills (Python, JavaScript or Go).
Soft Skills
  1. Ability to successfully navigate the demands of enterprise-scale IT environments.
  2. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  3. Excellent organization and task management skills.
  4. Self-driven and motivated.
  5. A strong desire to provide great customer service and value.
Ideally, You Also Have (Preferred)
  1. NCDA (NetApp Certified Data Administrator).
  2. RHCSA (Red Hat Certified Systems Administrator), LFCS (Linux Foundation Certified System Administrator), or CompTIA Linux+ Certification.
  3. CKA (Certified Kubernetes Administrator), and/or CKAD (Certified Kubernetes Application Developer).
  4. Experience working in an Agile/Scrum framework.
  5. Hands-on experience with core cloud provider services (AWS, Azure, and/or GCP).
  6. Hands-on experience with Red Hat Ansible and/or Hashicorp Terraform.
What Your Day-to-Day Looks Like (Responsibilities)

You should be comfortable designing, building and deploying Ansible automation of NetApp storage operational tasks in an enterprise environment. You need to be capable of hands-one configuration of necessary storage resource and networking requirements, troubleshooting issues as they arise, and automating deployments and updates as appropriate. Our consultants work directly with customer technical contacts in the storage operations and architecture teams on a daily basis within production, development, and test environments.

Flexible Work Environment

This position offers the opportunity to work both remotely and onsite. Most work will be performed offsite but may require dedicated equipment (supplied by customer), VPN access, and the ability to work from a home office. The ideal candidate will be located within the continental United States with the capability to periodically (less than 5 trips per year) travel on-site to customer locations in RTP, NC and San Jose, CA. Candidates must be self-driven and capable of organizing, prioritizing, and managing task workload based on customer direction.

Qualified Candidates
  1. Must be based in the United States and be U.S. citizens (contractual requirement).
  2. Required to have a completely clear criminal background check and pass a 10-panel drug screen.
  3. May also be required to pass additional background or financial record checks, based on contractual requirements for specific engagements.
Compensation

This position offers a competitive compensation package, based on technical skills and prior work experience. The compensation package includes a competitive base salary (USD $120-$160K), a company-sponsored health care plan (medical+vision+dental), a quarterly performance-based bonus plan, STD/LTD/Life insurance, and a 401(k) retirement plan with employer matching.
