Join Our Mission: Help the Helpers with Jane

Lets kick things off with a quick intro. Jane is a team thats all about fostering growth, spreading delight, and serving our healthcare community. Were on the hunt for people ready to jump in and join us while we simplify the lives of healthcare practitioners and patients daily. And guess what? Jane is a remotefirst company, meaning every role at Jane, including this one, is remote giving you the freedom to work from any corner of Canada.

Learn More About Us

Were founderled, which means we live our values while maintaining a clear vision for the future. Our product enables the likes of physiotherapists, mental health counsellors, chiropractors, and other allied health practitioners to run their practices in a digitalfirst way through features such as online booking, charting, scheduling, telehealth, secure payments and billing along with an evolving library of features. You can see more of them here.

There is often a high bar set, not just for the quality of work, but for the care we show for each other and our customers. And it’s our customers raising that bar, never standing still and continually improving which keeps us on our toes. Its not just about what youve done before or how quickly you work; its about your curiosity and drive to solve the right problems and your agility in learning new ways of thinking.

No doubt, Janes a special place to work. There is autonomy and flexibility to help integrate work into your life in a way that makes sense for you. Need to block out time to pick up the kids? Go for it. Thats normal here. And yes, we have a Slack channel for parents, but weve also got channels dedicated to plants, furry friends, food, pride, wellness you get the idea! While we love to connect virtually, the Jane team also connects in person throughout the year. That comes in the form of departmental gettogethers, company retreats, or possibly a conference or two across North America if you’re keen to learn more about our community of healthcare providers. Were on the search for folks who are ready to dive in and become part of our journey toward making healthcare professionals lives easier every single day.

You can also learn more about Jane as a company and a product by checking out our Glassdoor reviews and our Capterra Reviews.

But we’ll also keep it real — as much as we love our work, the mountain were climbing is always getting taller. Were a growing company, and with that comes the challenge of navigating an environment with many moving parts, often without a clearcut path laid out in front of us. This is where you come in. If youre the kind of person who gets a kick out of being resourceful and loves solving problems, youll fit right in.

We believe in collaboration, humility, and keeping a growth mindset. Were looking for people who can embrace our way of working, which often means being flexible and open to change. So, if after reading this, you feel excited about the opportunity — all in the name of helping those who help others — reach out to us to learn more.

In short, if youre excited by our growth, ready to contribute to a challenging yet rewarding environment, and eager to be a disruptor alongside a team of talented individuals, we’d love to hear from you!

Your Role in Our Journey

We’re looking for a Senior Software Developer to join JaneX, the team which builds Janes AIfocused technologies. We recently launched AI Scribe, which is already helping reduce admin time for thousands of practitioners. Now, we’re investing even more into how AI can support the work our customers do, in a responsible, practical, and delightful way. In addition to working on products used by our external customers, you will play an active role in building the tools, systems, and infrastructure that will power the next wave of Jane features across our development group.

The Impact You Could Have
  • Help improve and expand AI Scribe, Jane’s first AIpowered feature, by delivering highquality, customercentered enhancements that reduce admin work for practitioners.
  • Design and build core infrastructure for Jane’s AI platform, creating scalable tools and workflows that empower other teams to build AI features safely and efficiently.
  • Support other teams across Jane by codeveloping technical solutions and guiding responsible AI adoption — from early ideation to productionready tools.
  • Lead with technical depth, applying strong software engineering principles to architect resilient systems and meaningful APIs in a fastevolving space.
  • Collaborate closely with design, support, and product to deeply understand customer needs and continuously test ideas keeping empathy and utility at the core of every solution.
  • Shape the future of AI at Jane, helping define our internal standards, approaches, and roadmap for responsible and scalable AI product development.

  • The Experience We Feel We Need
  • A University Degree in Computer or a related STEM field plus approximately 10+ years of experience. Those with a Masters or PhD may be considered with less experience. Alternatively, candidates with 13+ years of industry experience gained through nontraditional paths, such as bootcamps or selfteaching, are also encouraged to apply!
  • Depth and diversity of experience, already operating at the Staff level, demonstrated by working in different capacities across multiple products and companies, bringing a wellrounded perspective on various development methodologies, problemsolving techniques, and team collaboration
  • Extensive experience and ownership in design and architecture, making impactful architectural decisions across more than one team and ensuring alignment with organizational goals
  • Proven experience leading technical efforts across multiple teams, driving decisions, and establishing best practices that uphold high standards and align with organizational objectives.
  • A desire to remain actively involved in coding while leading teams through technical challenges, balancing handson work with highlevel strategy
  • Actively involved in creating technical roadmaps that align engineering efforts with strategic business goals, and partnering with leadership to influence business direction
  • Ability to communicate complex technical solutions to both technical and nontechnical stakeholders, collaborating effectively with stakeholders, including Product Managers, Designers, and others to ensure cohesive and efficient product development
  • Compensation & Benefits

At Jane, we’re committed to paying fairly, clearly, and above all, paying for growth. This role has an annual salary range of $123,600 to $193,000. While that is a large range, it is intentional. It reflects the full growth journey someone might take in the role, from developing skills early on to becoming highly proficient and ultimately achieving excellence.

Most new hires join at the accomplished stage, which for this role represents an annual salary of $146,700. A starting salary below this typically indicates a candidate with strong potential who is still developing key skills. Salaries above this usually apply to existing team members who have made a significant impact and bring deep Janespecific knowledge.

We believe in paying for growth. You’ll have regular career development conversations with your manager and your compensation will grow as you gain experience and contribute meaningfully to our mission.

We want to build a team of people who make conversations rich with perspective and experience. We are committed to listening to every voice in order to learn and grow because doing this will allow us to meet the needs of the diverse community of helpers that Jane serves.
