Position summary
You will work on crossfunctional teams to build scalable systems for our government designing, implementing, and delivering services that millions of Americans depend on. The InfrastructurePlatform Engineering Manager leads and manages a team responsible for designing, building, and maintaining software development platforms for multiple multivendor teams. Your primary goals are to lead a team, to streamline and optimize developer productivity, platform reliability, and business alignment. Additionally, you will contribute to platform design, architecture, and implementation directly.
What youll do
Guide and develop a team of 15 platform engineers, by providing coaching, feedback, and growth opportunities, setting clear goals, managing performance, and ensuring accountability
Foster a positive, inclusive culture, support employee wellbeing, and lead by example, while aligning team efforts with organizational goals, removing obstacles, and enabling the team to achieve results effectively
Work closely with development, operations, security, and architect engineers to identify needs, incorporate feedback, and deliver scalable and secure platform solutions
Contribute directly to the design, architecture and implementation of platform features and capabilities
Manage platform engineering budgets, coordinate resource allocation, and optimize costs for cloud and onpremise infrastructure
Define and enforce platform engineering standards, documentation, automated workflows, and compliance requirements

Required skills
At least 7 years in platform development, with at least 3 years in formal management roles, leading sizable technical teams and strategic initiatives
Proven experience leading platform or infrastructure engineering teams, establishing strategic vision, and delivering robust platforms
Advanced skillsets in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), automation, CICD pipelines, and observability tools
Ability to collaborate across technical and management teams, communicate complex concepts clearly, and solicit feedback for platform improvement
Strong analytical thinking to address technical challenges, drive process improvements, and introduce new tools or methodologies as needed
Understanding of security principles, risk management, and regulatoryaudit requirements for platform engineering
