What are we looking for?
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior API/Backend Engineer to join our dynamic API team. In this role, you will play a key part in designing, developing, and maintaining high-performance, scalable, and reliable API solutions. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including fellow engineers, product managers, designers, and technical leaders to deliver exceptional backend services and integrations.

As a senior member of the team, you will contribute to architectural decisions, mentor other engineers, and ensure best practices are implemented across the backend infrastructure. This is a hands-on role that requires a balance of technical expertise, collaboration, and strategic thinking.


What are you expected to do?

  • You develop scalable, reliable, and high-performance APIs as part of the API team.
  • You actively contribute to system scoping, drafting technical specifications, and conducting code reviews.
  • You establish and maintain best practices for backend infrastructure with a strong focus on scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
  • You design and implement robust test cases for new APIs and integration capabilities.
  • You deploy changes and execute migrations in an agile, iterative manner while ensuring backward compatibility.
  • You mentor junior engineers and foster knowledge sharing through code reviews and technical sessions.
  • You troubleshoot production issues across various services and infrastructure layers.
    You collaborate with cross-functional teams to scope, design, and deliver key features on the product roadmap.
  • You participate in the continuous improvement of processes and tools related to CI/CD, observability, and the overall development workflow.


You’ll be a great fit if:

  • You hold a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • You have a minimum of 6 years of professional experience in backend software development, with a strong focus on public-facing API products.
  • You possess deep knowledge of full-stack technologies required to build and run APIs; experience with FastAPI is highly desirable.
  • You demonstrate expertise in RESTful API design and implementation, ensuring scalability, security, and performance.
  • You have proven experience with microservices architecture and event-based technologies such as webhooks.
  • You have applied AI tools and technologies in API development and integration workflows.
  • You are proficient in SQL and advanced database design, with strong skills in performance optimization.
  • You have hands-on experience with observability and monitoring tools such as Datadog, New Relic, or similar.
  • You possess a solid understanding of CI/CD methodologies and practical experience in pipeline automation.
  • You have strong experience working with AWS, particularly services like API Gateway, Lambda, and the Serverless Stack.
  • You are familiar with agile software development methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban.
  • You can gather, analyze, and document technical requirements and translate them into actionable specifications.
  • You demonstrate excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.

Please note: This role is remote; however, we require candidates to be based locally in the Philippines. This is to support occasional onsite activities such as team events, client meetings, or equipment handover. Additionally, local residency is necessary for compliance with Philippines labor laws and employment regulations.

What happens after you submit your application?

The whole process takes around 4 weeks:

  • There will be 3-4 interviews and a possible assessment from our client partner. You will undergo an initial interview, a culture interview, and 1-2 interviews with our cool client. This will run for about 1-2 weeks but we will let you know if we need to ramp it up. Be yourself and have fun.
  • We will constantly communicate with you as to the development of your application. You can also directly communicate with us to ask us about the status of your application.
  • If all goes well, we complete the reference check and provide other necessary requirements so we can offer you the job right away.
