Faculty for the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program are sought to teach and mentor students in their role as mental health counselors. The Mental Health Counseling program focuses on preparing students academically, professionally and personally to become skilled counselors.
The philosophical foundation of the program is based on: a) the scholarpractitioner model, b) culturally relevant pedagogy and practice, c) academic and experiential learning and d) developmental instruction that includes an emphasis on personal growth. The scholarpractitioner training model is designed to develop students who integrate skills, knowledge and research into practice.
The M.S. in Mental Health Counseling program is accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP), an independent accrediting agency recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation that accredits counselor preparation masters degree programs. CACREP accreditation attests to the quality and relevancy of our program.
