Position Title: Senior Quality Engineer
Location: Remote - Colombia
What you will be doing:
The primary purpose of this role is to leverage advanced expertise in quality engineering to design and implement robust automated and manual testing strategies, ensuring the reliability and performance of high-impact applications for global clients. Working in collaboration with cross-functional teams—including engineers, product managers, and designers—you will drive engineering excellence in integrated front-end and RESTful application testing, utilizing Playwright and TypeScript as key tools. You will play a pivotal role in optimizing quality assurance practices within Bitbucket-based CI/CD environments and contribute to the team’s test-driven development approach. This position offers the opportunity to lead quality initiatives, mentor junior team members, and help shape the organization’s technology landscape. As part of a dynamic, distributed team operating remotely, you will address the unique challenges associated with testing distributed systems and event-driven architectures, ensuring continuous improvement of QA processes within a rapidly evolving environment. Your responsibilities will include:
Design, implement, and maintain automated and manual testing strategies to ensure application quality, performance, and reliability.
Develop, execute, and optimize test cases and test suites using industry best practices and modern automation tools, specifically Playwright with TypeScript, for integrated front-end and RESTful web application testing.
Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and designers to define acceptance criteria, identify quality risks, and deliver high-quality solutions for global clients.
Lead troubleshooting, analysis, and resolution of complex issues in both test and production environments, applying problem-solving skills and leveraging knowledge of distributed systems and event-driven architectures.
Integrate test automation processes and frameworks within Bitbucket-based CI/CD pipelines for continuous testing and feedback, adhering to QA best practices.
Monitor, report, and communicate test results, defects, and quality metrics to stakeholders with clarity and precision.
Contribute to the ongoing enhancement of QA processes, standards, and tooling across the engineering team, supporting the adoption of best practices, including TDD.
Requirements & Qualifications
To excel in this role, you should possess:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
Minimum 4 years of professional experience in Quality Engineering or Software Testing at a senior level.
Proficiency in designing, implementing, and executing both automated and manual test strategies.
Hands-on experience with Playwright for test automation, utilizing TypeScript.
Experience in UI test automation for integrated front-end solutions and testing of RESTful web applications, using Playwright and TypeScript.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
Understanding of distributed systems and event-driven architectures.
Familiarity with test-driven development (TDD) practices.
Working knowledge of quality assurance practices within CI/CD environments.
Familiarity with tools such as Jira and Bitbucket.
Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively in agile, cross-functional, and distributed teams.
