Product Engineer PhD (m/f/d) GNSS & COMMS

(31,5h/week)

 

Do you want to help shape the future of satellite navigation?
During your PhD, you will work on a forward-looking research project focused on advancing positioning, navigation, and timing (PNT) systems. The goal is to integrate signals from Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites with existing GNSS technologies to develop highly precise and reliable navigation solutions — particularly for the professional high-end GNSS market, such as precision agriculture.

The salary for this position is based on the ERA group EG 9 of the collective agreement of the metal and electrical industry Rhineland-Palatinate and consists, in addition to the gross monthly salary of 4.305,60 €, of various special payments (holiday pay, T-Zug, Christmas pay, etc.). You can expect an annual salary of approx. 59.331,00 EUR in this position.

 

 

Your Responsibilities:

  • Development and analysis of algorithms for high-precision GNSS navigation incorporating LEO satellite signals
  • Conducting research to improve positioning, navigation, and timing (PNT) systems
  • Collaboration with interdisciplinary teams within the John Deere Intelligent Solutions Group
  • Close cooperation with Prof. Dr. Thomas Pany from the Bundeswehr University Munich and the SPACE Research Center
  • Presentation and publication of your research results at scientific conferences and in academic journals

 

 

What Skills You Need:

  • Master’s degree (with above-average grades) in Telecommunication Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Computer science, Geomatics or a related discipline
  • Strong background in signal processing, estimation theory, and satellite navigation
  • Programming skills (e.g., Python, MATLAB, C++)
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Language: English on a solid level spoken and written, German is a benefit
  • Basic MS Office Knowledge

 

This tariff position is limited to 36 months, based in Kaiserslautern and vacant immediately.
