Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytically driven Sr. Forensic Sports Science Consultant to join our growing team. This role involves conducting forensic investigations, analysis, and testimony in commercial and personal injury litigation and failure analysis related to sport and fitness activities, products, and equipment. You will apply principles of kinesiology, biomechanics, and human performance to analyze incidents, prepare expert reports, and provide litigation support.

This is an exciting opportunity for a sports science professional to work on high-impact cases involving athletes, sports organizations, manufacturers, and legal teams.

Essential Job Functions

  • Conduct forensic investigations involving sport and fitness activities, injuries, equipment, and products, including human performance and wearable technologies.
  • Complete site and product inspections.
  • Review various media (e.g., photographs, witness statements, depositions, police reports, medical and chiropractic records, etc.) to provide logical conclusions.
  • Meet with colleagues, clients, and other professionals to discuss assigned cases or projects.
  • Research and analyze statutes, regulations, legal articles, and other standard  sources; provide written analysis to consultants.
  • Locate and apply research of pertinent literature and governmental regulations.
  • Apply mathematical and empirical methods of analyses.
  • Prepare expert reports, deposition summaries, and affidavits.
  • Stay current with advancements in sports science and forensic methodologies.
  • Develop and publish research to address relevant scientific questions for the forensic sports science field.
  • Provide support to proactive sports science consulting projects, as needed.
  • Develop and maintain a legal consulting practice.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, and CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s or Ph.D. in Sports Science, Biomechanics, Kinesiology, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field. A Ph.D. is preferred.
  • 5-9 years of work experience in sports science or related fields.
  • Preferred: Sport/fitness coaching or specialist certification or similar credentials/experience.
  • Preferred: Prior experience with litigation support or expert witness work is highly desirable.

The Salary Range for this position is $104,100 - $156,100 and is dependent on education, experience, location and certifications/licensure.
