Position Overview

The Sr UI/UX Specialist is an essential part of the Product Management team reporting directly to the VP of Product Management. The position is responsible for the design and usability of a rapidly growing, market-leading benefits marketplace web platform. This role focuses on delivering intuitive, engaging, and user-centered designs across the end-to-end product experience—from early concepts through development handoff—while balancing user empathy, technical feasibility, and business goals. Tasked with presenting, discussing, advocating for, and delivering design assets and artifacts at various stages of the product and feature design process, including user flows, wireframes, mockups, prototypes, and ready-for-development, fully annotated designs. The role supports digital design for both web-based and mobile products and applications using UI/UX best practices.

This position requires an understanding of the product management design, planning, and development process within a SaaS or web application environment. It also demands experience working within an end-to-end Agile Software Development Lifecycle. Operating as a creative thinker and execution-oriented problem solver, the designer must demonstrate strong product lifecycle awareness and communication skills. This is a position in a fast-paced, iterative environment, joining a lean and high-impact product team.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

• Design user flows, wireframes, mockups, and high-fidelity UI assets for web and mobile platforms
• Collaborate cross-functionally with product and engineering to ensure designs are technically feasible and delivered with quality
• Apply usability best practices, responsive design principles, and accessibility standards (WCAG) across all product touchpoints
• Translate marketplace-specific challenges into clear, user-centered design solutions (e.g. browsing, saving, comparing, and purchasing deals)
• Conduct lightweight user research and usability testing to validate concepts and iterate based on insights
• Leverage data from tools like Hotjar and Google Analytics to refine experiences
• Maintain and contribute to our design system and ensure consistency across all assets
• Participate in design critiques and team reviews to ensure alignment and design quality
  
  

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience in UI/UX design, preferably in a SaaS, ecommerce, or marketplace environment
• A strong portfolio showcasing interaction design, UI polish, and a user-centered design process
• Proficiency in design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD
• Experience with mobile-first and responsive web design
• Familiarity with HTML/CSS and technical collaboration best practices
• Strong visual design skills with attention to layout, typography, and brand alignment
• Comfortable working in agile development environments (JIRA, Confluence, etc.)
• Understanding of user research basics, including interviews, testing, and heuristic evaluation
• Industry Trends Awareness: Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and design best practices to infuse your work with fresh perspectives and innovative ideas.
• Open-Minded Learner: A passion for continuous learning and growth, embracing feedback and actively seeking opportunities to expand your design skills and knowledge.
• Experience designing for an online marketplace, ecommerce site, or employee benefits platform
• Familiarity with conversion optimization or behavioral psychology principles
• Exposure to analytics tools such as Mixpanel, Amplitude, or GA4

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and prioritization skills
