Job description

We are seeking a skilled DevOps Engineer to architect, lead, and execute strategy around GitLab/GitHub workflows, migrations, branching strategies, CI/CD pipeline deployments, and Kubernetes integrations. You will play a critical role in enhancing our DevOps practices and delivering seamless, automated deployment solutions for enterprise clients supported by tight SLAs and SRE best practices

Location: Remote/Kochi

Experience: 6+ Years

Key Responsibilities:

DevOps Strategy & Tooling

  • Design and implement robust DevOps strategies aligned with organizational objectives (e.g., shift-left testing, infrastructure as code, release automation).
  • Assess and recommend enhancements across CI/CD frameworks and branching workflows.

Source Control & Branching Strategy

  • Manage, optimize, and enforce best-of-breed practices in GitLab and/or GitHub, including branching models (Gitflow, trunk-based), merge strategies (MRs, PRs), and protected branch rules.
  • Lead and execute migrations across Git platforms, ensuring version history integrity, compliance, and minimal workflow disruption.

CI/CD Pipeline Design & Application Deployment

  • Architect, automate, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI and/or GitHub Actions, leveraging both open-source and cloud-native tooling (e.g., Terraform, Helm, SonarQube, Appium)
  • Deploy applications ("lift-and-shift" or modern microservices) to container platforms, integrating automated build, quality checks, and testing.

Kubernetes Integration

  • Design Kubernetes orchestration strategies, including Helm charts, deployments, namespaces, RBAC, and cluster lifecycle.
  • Integrate CI/CD pipelines with Kubernetes environments (e.g., AKS, EKS, GKE) for streamlined deployment workflows

Infrastructure as Code & Automation

  • Define and manage infrastructure through IaC using tools like Terraform or Azure Resource Manager.
  • Enable consistency, reproducibility, and efficiency via automated deployments, scaling, and maintenance workflows.

Observability & Site Reliability Engineering (SRE)

  • Partner with SREs to monitor applications and infrastructure across the CI/CD pipeline, ensuring reliability and uptime per SLAs
  • Implement logging, monitoring, alerting, and incident response practices to meet performance and deployment SLAs.

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

  • Work cross-functionally with developers, security engineers, and IT to implement best practices in automation, cost optimization, and compliance.
  • Document processes, runbooks, and workflows clearly, and deliver training to internal teams

Requirements:

  • Proven experience (4+ years) with GitLab and/or GitHub, including branching strategy implementation, migrations, and CI/CD design.
  • Strong understanding of DevOps methodologies and CI/CD orchestration.
  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes (AKS, EKS, GKE) and Helm charts.
  • Proficiency in IaC tools like Terraform; cloud environments (Azure, AWS, GCP).
  • Demonstrated experience deploying applications in containerized/cloud-native environments.
  • Familiarity with monitoring, logging, and SRE practices.
