Industry Division is seeking for a full time position for a Minerals Processing Expert, Metallurgist role. 

AFRY provides end-to-end expertise for the mining and metals industry, from early exploration and feasibility studies to mine design, processing, smelting, refining, and recycling. AFRY´s metallurgical expertise covers minerals processing, hydrometallurgical and pyrometallurgical processes, materials technology and decarbonization strategies. Notable projects include various green and brownfield mines and concentrating plants, ferroalloy smelters, green steel mills, non-ferrous production plants and battery metal production plants globally.

Minerals Processing Expert is expected to to reinforce our team serving a variety of mining and metals industries. The role is to act as a minerals processing technology expert and/or project manager in project development and execution phases of Clients’ investment projects. Ideally you would hold a qualified person status (JORC, NI43-101, PERC or similar) and be able to act as a QP in mining feasibility study projects. You would actively contribute to project sales, development of new solutions and ways of working. You have a background in mining / beneficiation technology, either in industry, consulting or engineering.

You have experience in investment phase conceptual and feasibility studies regarding mining and minerals processing projects. Your understanding of mining and minerals processing covers throughout the mine value chain.

Depending on your experience and skills profile, your tasks include sales management, proposal development, project management, lead / process engineering tasks as well as development in ways of working and client offering. You are fully supported by multi-skilled colleagues and our international project base provide an opportunity for further professional growth. The position is located in Oulu or Vantaa organizations, but other AFRY locations can also be considered after the induction period.

Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you have:

  • Minimum 7 years hands-on experience of mining feasibility studies, minerals processing technology development, conceptual & basic engineering and project execution.
  • Ability to act as in leading expert role in mining projects
  • Deep knowledge of the field and ability to provide practical client solutions
  • Ability to develop minerals processing concepts for different ore types including metallurgical test work programs.
  • Ability to develop mass balance simulations using modern software like HSC Chemistry etc.
  • M.Sc. education or higher in relevant field
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to develop new solutions, projects and approaches in a client-oriented manner
  • Fluent communication skills in English

It is seen as an advantage if you have: 

  • Understanding of JORC, NI43-101, PERC -code based economical and technical scoping- , pre-feasibility-, feasibility studies in mining industry
  • Qualified Person status (membership in organizations accepted within the international mining community as a reputable professional association. A list of foreign associations that the regulators consider to qualify as “professional associations” and the appropriate membership designation to qualify as a QP is set out in the companion policy to NI 43-101.)
  • Geometallurgical test work knowhow is seen as an advantage.
