Job description

At DraftKings, AI is becoming an integral part of both our present and future, powering how work gets done today, guiding smarter decisions, and sparking bold ideas. It’s transforming how we enhance customer experiences, streamline operations, and unlock new possibilities. Our teams are energized by innovation and readily embrace emerging technology. We’re not waiting for the future to arrive. We’re shaping it, one bold step at a time. To those who see AI as a driver of progress, come build the future together.

The Crown Is Yours

As a Senior Automation Software Engineer, you'll design and implement technological solutions that automate repetitive, manual IT tasks, data movement, and reduce areas of friction. This role is central to transforming our Enterprise IT ecosystem, driving innovation through software engineering practices typically reserved for product teams and leveraging newer AI technologies. You'll work cross-functionally with IT operations, InfoSec, Compliance, and Engineering stakeholders to deliver AI solutions and automation that reduces toil, improves user experience, and enhances our internal systems' scalability and resilience.

What you’ll do as a Senior Automation Software Engineer
  • Design, develop, and maintain automation tools and workflows focused on the IT environment using modern engineering practices and technologies.

  • Own the full software development lifecycle for automation projects—from planning and architecture to implementation, testing, deployment, and support.

  • Create and support APIs, system integrations, front-end portals and orchestration pipelines using multiple technologies like Python, React or PowerShell, and integration tools like Boomi or Workato.

  • Evaluate, test, and implement newer AI-based solutions to increase IT efficiency and reduce user friction.

  • Collaborate closely with IT and security teams to identify high-impact automation opportunities and deliver scalable solutions.

  • Align coding standards, testing practices, and deployment pipelines with our current engineering practices to ensure high-quality and maintainable solutions with robust logging, monitoring, and alerting.

What you’ll bring
  • Experience as a technical lead or key contributor on software or automation teams.

  • Strong programming skills in React, Node.js or Python and experience with PowerShell or Bash scripting

  • Capacity to talk to IT stakeholders and understand their needs, so an IT background or experience in IT projects is desirable as IT projects will be the main focus.

  • Experience deploying scalable, reliable, and secure Generative AI applications using OpenAI, AWS Bedrock, or Google Gemini.

  • Strong relational database skills (SQL, PostgreSQL, or similar).

  • Front-end development experience with React, TypeScript, or similar frameworks is preferred.

  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code tools is a plus.

  • Passion for operational excellence and a commitment to reducing manual effort through well-designed automation.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and pivot quickly to meet evolving business needs.
